Morning chaps, I've picked up my new 3lt terrano from Wales and took it out last night for a short run..... Oil light came on 10 mins into the journey!! Went home and let her cool down checked the oil level , bang on ! The garage I bought it from changed the oil and filter before I picked it up..? Warning lights worry me and because I don't know the history I'm now concerned. Thanks rob

there are two oil sensors ....... one of them goes faulty ..... I think its the top one ........ common fault ........ someone will be along shortly to advise which one :thumb2

"Faulty oil pressure sensor common on 3ltr T2
The low is by the oil filter the High Pressure is the other side of the engine.
The Black sensor is the low pressure unit.
The Green or Yellow sensor is the high pressure unit.
Part number for sensor is 25240-2X901 it is a black sensor with a yellow band just below the connector or a complete kit for the modification can be obtained using 10007-2X90B, kit includes adaptor and thread seal."

Can I still drive the truck without causing damage? Sorry to ask but I've no knowledge at all when it comes to motors!! The garage also changed the front bushes.. And there seems to be some suspension related noises/bumping , is it because there've got no play in them ?? Thanks rob

If the oil level in the engine is OK, then you are safe to drive. Sounds like a faulty sensor as Briggie has suggested. As for noises, the bushes if fitted right will affect the quality of drive and of course cure any noises from worn bushes. You need to check where the noise is. If it sounds like its under your seat, there are links and bushes there. Check the drop links, they are a very common failure but nothing to worry about. Suspension and shocks if faulty should be very obvious because the knocking will be harsh and loud and the cast may well sag!

Agreed about the oil pressure light however to be on the safe side if you have bought it from a garage take it back and drive minimal distances just in case there is an engine issue though I suspect if temp has been ok and no noises from the engine it'll be fine but as you said you don't know much about it's history. You may be able to buy a replacement sensor from somewhere like Milner Off Road online but I suspect it may be a dealer part only but why you, should it not be the garage you bought the vehicle from?

As for your suspension noises, is there any particular time when the noise happens such as full lock? that's an easy fix with 4 blobs of grease on the 4 lock stops behind the hubs. Check out the downloads section in Quick Links.

I have not seen the 3.0l, so have no knowledge on it.

So far after my very disappointing trip to the Nissan Dealer at Dartford, I have got anything I need from either from the web, or my local interpart.

I have done everything my self, apart from the Valve Seals, which Rick did for me.

My light came on about 20 miles after my 1st oil change, any way, I got a new switch from my local factors ( £6 ISH), jacked the front up (axle stands) took the drivers wheel off, pulled the rubber skirt back and the switch is in front of you, undo the plug/wire, large deep socket, undo, fit new one, plug in, away you go:thumbs
