Hi All
I have an oil leaking from the the joint where the Turbo oil feed pipe connects to the top of the oil filter housing.
There a special bolt that go's through a joint on the end of the turbo oil pipe and screws into the top of the oil filter housing I'v replaced the copper washes and it's still leaking oil.

Help! Arthur

Hi ronypony
I don't thing that is my problem all I could see from the picture was the intercooler. I have a photo if some one could explain how to post it.

Hi Arthur

Ah sorry I thought it might be the breather pipe leaking as in the photo of other post I mentioned..

To post a pic of your problem you would need to have your photo hosted on one of those free photo hosting sites e.g.www.fotopic.net
That is the hosting site I use...then you can either link to the url of your photo or embed the url of your photo in a posting on this site so that the photo appears in your posting like this..

If you right click on this photo and click on 'properties' you will see the url of the photo...that is the link to this photo hosted on fotopic.net

I think I have come across this problem on mine, the part the banjo bolt threads in to on the oil filter head is an alloy fitting, if the bolt is over tightened the fitting will crack and split causing an oil leak, the tighter you try to do it up the wider the crack becomes, the part is separate to the filter head and can be removed and a new one possibly obtained, I removed mine and thoroughly degreased it and the banjo bolt, replaced it in to the filter head and put a liberal coating of stud lock on the threads of the bolt replacing this in to the union, not over tightening and left for a wile to set.
It cured my leaking fitting that was cracked but will need replacing if it ever needs removing again.

Hi Jeremy
I thing you have just solved my problem. When I first noticed it I tightened it up but it got worse I then got two new washers and try again this time it leak even more. So its of with the filter head hope it's an easy job! thanks million what would I do with out the club and it's members.

If it’s the same as mine Arthur you do not need to remove the whole filter head, it should be a separate adapter that the banjo bolt screws in to and this “adaptor” will unscrew from the filter head.

Hi Jeremy
I can see the adaptor I haven't got any further than new washers as yet. I check with nissan regarding the adaptor they don't sell them separate

Hi Jeremy
I have taken the adaptor out and it as five hair line cracks running into the threads.
I have spoke to the staff in the hydraulic shop and they suggest drilling and tapping a steel blank and it should work fine. My concern is will the turbo get it's normal oil supply and will the steel blank expand when hot and crack the oil filter housing. What do you think?

Arthur

Sounds a good idea Arthur as long as the drilling is as big as or bigger than the internal diameter of the supply pipe to the turbo, that isn’t very big, oil flow will not be affected, the expansion of the steel will not affect the rest of the filter housing with the heat generated by the engine and should be fine.

Hi Jeremy
they will be using the orginal Bolt so the oil flow should be the same.
I will give it ago on monday and let you know the result.

Arthur who started this thread has asked me to post a photo of his oil leak.Arthur also asked me to arrow the offending cracked bolt/nut behind the banjo connection where the oil is leaking from....thing is Arthur m8 I am not sure which nut/bolt it is that I should arrow.....here is the photo though.

Hi All
Back on the road.

thanks Ronypony for posting the photo. The oil leak was from the nut directly behind the oil pipe just above the banjo.

Thanks Jeremy for your advice the hydralic shop made a near enought duplicate.

I tried lots of breakers yards for the part without any luck. Nissan would have sold me the part but it only come's with the oil filter housing cost £250.00 You can have a new bolt for £37.00 I had one made for £10.00 qiuet a saving

Hello men. I was recently after a seven seater for the wife and whilst on the way to make a likely purchase of a Volvo V70 I spotted a Terrano 2 for sale at the roadside, looked at it, had a change of heart and returned home with it.

I have to say we have been very impressed with it so far, performance and economy is far better than the Isuzu Trooper that I run and the steering lock is fantastic.

However, I do have the same problem as shown above and my question is can anyone put a number or name to the said alloy fitting. I have contacted all the Nissan dealers within distance who have replied that I will have to bring it in so they can identify the part and then order it. This I am reluctant to do as time is of a premium at the moment and they are all 40ish miles away.

I am not sure what the hose or fitting looks like but as posted prev a hydraulic engineers sorted a duplicate :thumb2

I can recommend with reservations these lot http://www.pirtek.co.uk/

They have depots with workshops and can be quite ingeneous and creative because of the range of fittings and machinery to form and and modify them.

I worked for them many moons ago and had a great time making up all sorts of ingenious bits.

The reservations are based entirely on cost.

Theyre not the cheapest.

Make sure you get a quote and haggle :thumb2 they certainly used to have high profit margins and exorbitant call out charges , I would say go to the depot and keep an eye on the quote as all the bits and the assembly charge are added on..........however the product is very good quality.
