just wondering noticed im leaking dif oil from the center cap of the wheel on the rear how are the difs sealed on the terrano 2 2.7 is it a case of a new gasket or is it a bearing out job etc shes a 97

oil leaking from centre cap on the rear wheel?????????? there is no oil there, if it is diff oil or brake fluid it will be dripping from the brake back plate, Rick

It's def diff oil stained front of hub and came out the center cap of the wheel

OK do not know how it is getting there but you have a good job on your hands, new shoes for a start, but half shaft needs removing and bearing off, not the best of tasks without a puller all this to renew the oil seal, and I would renew the bearing as well, oh and you might well end up replacing the brake pipe if it does not unscrew easy, usually the sleeve nut is rusted to the pipe, but you can remove the two bolts holding the cylinder to the back plate, then you can rotate the cylinder, as long as the two bolts do not shear, Rick

If you are sure it is diff oil, Rear seal goes, BUT it is the bearing that has really gone, well it was on mine, that allows the seal to leak.
So replace both seal and bearing.:thumb2

If brake fluid, replace the slave cylinder, don't mess with seal refurb kits.:thumb2

It needs new shoes in the rear so was replacing them anyway even putting new drums on her but need to sort the oil leak first. It sounds a pain to sort but will get it done this week for mot time

Have you got abs on your truck:nenau
I had a leak on my rear drum and it turned out to be the o ring on the abs sensor.
My first thought was that was the oil seals but after a good clean up and close monitoring I found the leaky seal.
