My 2.7td maverick has delvoped a fault where it wont rev above 3000rpm when it gets to 2000rpm it stutters really badly and chucks loads of white smoke out.Its been running on veg oil but more recently on normal derv.Any ideas what the problem could be?

Have you checked the mini filter

that, and check your fuel filter, probably full of crap.

Thanks guys where is the mini filter located please?

Bin the mini filter, it's pointless

Replace the main fuel filter

Have a glance under back by rear axle at fuel lines, check for leaks, if very rusty and flakey, replace

Also fuel filter top/diaphragm can leak

Other than that stick a new maf on for good measure

Brillant thanks all checked fuel lines look ok replaced the 6mm pipe the other month because it was rotten.Main fuel filter was changed awhile back but it has quite a bit of veg through it.

If I do away with the mini filter do I just put the bolt back in without the spring?

ok guys mine doesn't have a mini filter and I have change the fuel filter and checked the fuel pipes yet mine has the same symptoms ( misfiring and white smoke out the back worse when cold and threw the first 2 gears as it goes threw the revs quicker. and I am stuck as there are no elm light on and no around here can reader the codes as it uses a 14 pin plug

If thats the case have you considered bleeding the system?

Near the primer on top of the fuel filter there should be a white butterfly screw that when undone and the primer is pumped, pure fuel should come out of the system, if you pump a few times and nothing comes out you have air in the system.

Failing that def give the mini filter a swap and then change the fuel filter

Just changed fuel filter made difference to its running.

Had my Dad check it out with the amount of smoke and the smell its looking like the turbo is kaput.Turbo is also smoking which I didn't notice before.

Td's don't have a MAF.

White smoke certainly indicates air getting into the fuel line somewhere, as said in previous posts you could run a fuel line from a container straight into the fuel filter this will eliminate the fuel filter to pump line, if so, poss replace fuel lines to/ from tank.

Didn't make any difference still same problem.Thats why we are suspecting turbo fault with the turbo itself smoking.

White/grey smoke as you said in your OP is a fuel issue.
If your turbo was faulty/failing it would be burning oil and would be a blue smoke.

If you have been running Veg for a while, have you checked your injector leak off pipes?

Mine does appear to be burning oil plus turbo pipes have oil in them.Dont want to keep running it and making things worse. Will see what happens when the turbo is replaced..
