I decided to try the veggie oil fuel on my T2. i mixed 20 litres oil and roughly the same amount of derv. it was ok for the first 80 miles but now it wont rev above 3000 and seems sluggish and lacking in power. on top of this the smell from the exhaust keeps making me want a bag of chips which wont do much for the fuel consumption.
Think ill go back to regular diesel!!!

Veg oil on its own wont do this, change the fuel filter as the VEG oil drags all the crap out the tank. I have been running the Maverick on SVO all year and not had one problem, i aslo run a Terrano on it as well that i have just bought and that too runs fine.

The problem wont be the cooking oil, but because this has highlighted the problem you will of course blame it.

Swap the filter and check the banjo filter ontop of the pump and you should be as good as gold. :thumbs

PS wont hurt to check the Air filter while yor at it.

Aye as Kamsin says, change filter and check banjo fllter or just bin it

Oil will clean all your lines and tank of shite, so maybe blockage somewhere

I've not strayed away from pump diesel yet, as heard too many horror stories of long term damage to diesel pump

I have not knowingly used bio, svo etc and for the low mileage I do I think I will stick to pump diesel. Although some contains 5% bio.:doh

17 1/2 years, and never even touched the mini filter.
If I used bio, I might start blocking things, and as they say...
If i ain't broke, don't fix it.:bow:bow

ive just looked at the download section about the mini filter and it seems easy so im gonna do it now. will report my findings.
the only thing is the motor on the download section is a 2.7 td mistral and mine is a 2.7 tdi terrano. i assume everything is the same?

Its the same, however some truck dont have the mini filter in them, so if you dont find it dont worry. Mine did nt have one. But change the main fuel filter as well.

I cleaned the mini filter on mine about 5-6 wks ago. Some of the poor running problems are starting to appear again. If i remove the mini filter is it likely to cause any problems? I just use pump diesel?

SORRY FOR POSTING TWICE!!! Bloody phone...

Ok. ive done the mini filter. it wasnt too bad so i suspect the main filter. I spent ages trying to fish the mini filter out before i relised it wasnt in there. on my T2 its built into the banjo bolt. anyway i soaked it it redex and gave it a good blowout so its like new. it drives a little better but still not spot on.

see pics below to see the mini filter on a Terrano 2 Tdi

I wonder if these mini filters will fit my TD, would save a few heart-stopping moments when I fish mine out on a piece of bent wire (I've already lost one doing that!)

It'll just be a filter job mate, don't panic. I've run mine on neat veggy for ages. At first it does drag up any crap in the system and choke up the filter, but usually that'll stop after a couple of tank fulls. Once that's done you wont have it again . I actually changed my filter and housing for a tractor type one . It has a glass bowl so you can SEE what's going on and has filter cartridges that cost all of 2 quid :thumbs
Enjoy the chipness

First I think you jumped in at the deep end with a 50% mix. 5L in 20 and see how it runs may have been a better starting point.
Second which oil did you use?
Thirdly, this is the worst time of year to try it as all oils thicken as it gets cold.
I'm using 33% rapeseed oil and keep it on this all winter with a little petrol mixed in to help thin it.
Don't give up cos low revs may have nothing to do with the fuel. David.

Has it got a primer pump??David.

Not on mine 'cause I've moved the housing for space reasons. So I have a separate bulb type primer , cheap n cheerful, P of P
However you can get them with a primer on just the same
