Hi all, bit of a strange problem with my 98 Terrano diesel. Left the ignition on for about two days, duhhhh..... Anyway charged the battery up and tried to start it up, no joy. It will turn over alright but will not start. The heater plug light comes on and then go's of as usual. Any ideas?
Thanks
Don:confused:

have you tried resetting the fob first and then use it to open and shut the central locking then try the key again. if this does not work take the key to a locksmith and get that coded

Hi
Thanks for the reply. I didn't know the key was coded, I thought it was just the fob which at the moment seems to arm and disarm the alarm okay?
Thanks
Chris

You could try a terminal 30 reset = disconnect battery for 5 mins then reconnect, unlock car and retry.

i had a problem once when i bent down i broke my one and only key in my pocket for a 1996 terrano, got it cut and he then had to put it through the computer to reprogram it.

btw for added info if anyone does snap there key do not throw the part with the handle away you can do one of two things A) get a copy of your spare key but not a expensive programmed one but a normal £2 jobby and you can use the broken one and the cheapy key together by touching the barrel with the broken key while turning the ignition with the other or tape then together given room to allow the key to go into the ignition but the 2 keys touching each other, B) you can permanently attach the broken key to the barrel and and get loads of cheapy keys which will all work ( only problem with this that it will be easier to rob lol)

Non starter

Got it going in the end, just needed a booster pack to turn it over for ages and away she went thankfully.

thats cheap then

good job no big bill.

but how / why did you leave the ignition on for about two days...

I was cleaning out the washer jets which were all gummed up and had the keys in the ignition to set the aim of the jets. Thats all their is to know really, easily done I guess.
