Parked the maverick up two weeks ago after very muddy off roading. Now it wont start .Battery was flat but still not starting when charged just clicking from starter motor. Managed to tow start tonight all running sweet as but turn it off and just clicks. So looks like two year old starter motor has given up the ghost . Lots of crap in the engine so probably earthing out somewhere but would that fook the starter when parked up?

Briam

Starter will be full of crap needs stripping cleaning might work ok then.

Cheers Gav

I'm impressed you got TWO years out of it :lol
I reckoned about 6 months on mine. I've had two replaced on G/Tee now :clap
As said above they will fill with wet mud etc and die.
I'd get a new one and send it back every year :naughty
Try a diesel bath and if that doesn't work try some "rola-cola" :D

Yes does it with mine, after a little non use the solenoid piston gets stuck or sticky in its bore, I try and start mine every few days just to keep it free, last time I stripped it I smeared a thin coat of grease over it seems to have helped, Rick

Starter motor stripped cleaned and greased .....still nothing.

New starter it is then :'(

Hope you did not refit it before bench testing, if the solenoid operates but no turn of the motor suggests the contacts are bad but could be brushes gummed up how much did you strip?????? Rick
