Noisy engine?

Well this works for me on both my 2.7 TDi diesels but the stuff works on petrol engines as well - its designed for both according to the tin.

If your engine is a tad noisy, get yerself down to your local Asda (or motorists shop, but expect to pay more) and get yerself a tin of Wynns "Super Charge Oil Treatment".

Unless the noise problem is down to something serious, I guarantee you will notice a welcome reduction in the usual clattering as soon as you add it to your oil. In fact if you let the motor tick over as you dribble it in (its like treacle, so be prepared to stand there for a while!) you can hear it start to muffle as the stuff mixes.

It claims to fix a bunch of other stuff that I can't confirm either way - "improves compression/performance in worn engines, reduced smoke, prolongs engine life.." etc..etc..

What I can tell you is I've used this stuff religiously every oil change for about the last 100k miles and at 161k miles the old cows engine sounds like a very large sewing machine!

I've also just put the first dose in my newly-acquired 02-plate 2.7 TDi with exactly the same effects.

And at about £3.80 a tin it won't kill you either.

I'd be interested in feedback from anyone else who tries it as I'd hate people just to take my word for it.

I dont know how many miles this sort of treatment is good for cause I usually sell the car just after doing it

Yep im sure he is. but ive heard .. a friend of a friend storys so often was just asking if its EVER been done.. im suse it cant work in any way..

it is a myth, it would soon block oil ways but it does work in gearboxes and diffs though cos i've done it in the past. i've got a motor for sale anyone interested? no thought not! :lol


if you've got water problems (on your truck not you personly) try k-seal about a tenner, and that does work.

I believe many moons ago that sawdust in the gearbox would keep it all quite until you sold the car or traded it in

But possibly another myth

To be quite honest there is not much difference between Wynns and sawdust.
All Wynns is a chemical form of saw dust, basically it's a thickener additive for the oil and changes/stuffs up the velocity rating of the oil so it doesn't splash as much around the motor, not to good on the cold starts and in climates when you need the lubrication properties.

Easier to change your oil velocity to much your environment at the next service.
Some manufactures use to recommend a winter and summer oil velocity rating.

I remember reading about some expedition that took a 2CV though a jungle - the lost all the gearbox oil and stuffed it full of bananas.

Bought them another couple of days IIRC
