Hi, I have a 2005 Terrano 2.7 diesel with 34,000 on the clock and have a few concerns that I'm trying to figure out. I've had the vehicle about 4 months now and seem to have all the noises going at the moment . I can't think of any other words to describe them! I have searched the site and and as you do, you think the worst i.e gearbox / clutch / propshaft etc.
In any case the noises are:-
1) a ticking/whirring sound from what sounds like behind the dash mid to passenger side. It disappears or certainly goes quiter when the clutch is depressed. It's not excessively loud but it is annoying. The clutch operation itself seems fine.
2) a loud whining sound from the front of the vehicle that sometimes includes grinding when I am slowing down through the gears and turning either left or right. It is not the stops that I have read about on full lock. The whining is there even when I am slowing down at low speed through the gears in a straight line. This problem especially the whining seems to be getting worse.
3) Vibration / shuddering - when going through the gears at lower speeds, almost like you are in the wrong gear (but your'e in the right gear). Not a problem as you pick up speed.
As mentioned above the Terrano is low mileage and it has a Nissan dealership service history so I don't think it has been abused. All reservoirs are full. I'm hoping that it is not serious / costly and also hoping that the symptoms all relate to one problem.
Any pointers appreciated :thumb2
