no clutch

HI my wife was out shopping yesterday, on returning the clutch peddel dropped onto the floor. She was stuck at the trafficlights. called out the rac and they said it was the clutch mastercylinder gone. t 2 was brought home on back of tow truck,very embarising. I fitted anew master cylinder and tried to bleed it but to no avail. I then spotted fluid on the drive under the rear passengerside door. looks like a brake pipe to me. It seems to be leaking where its clipped tothe chasis. Dose this meen the clutch and braking system are connected? Has any one any ideas and any tips on the best way to bleed up would be apreciated. Ps sorry for my spelling. There was no fluid leeking from the rear until I started to try and bleed system.

i read a thread on this the other day, the clutch has another pipe running to he back of the vehicle, some have removed it with no problems,,, ask toolbox or hummingbird they will know exactly what to do . i will look up post again

hi mont,there is a pipe running to rear of vehicle, something to do with a damper for clutch, i renewed mine cos i did'nt know at the time (cost £43 from nissan) and a pig to get out, i cut as much as i could out then fitted new pipe over the old ones ( your see what i mean when get under truck) and cable tied to gether worked perfect or you could remove pipe and fit ball bearing in back of slave cylinder and put pipe back and tighten, then bleed from slave cylinder :thumb2

I had this go on my old one and got a new pipe from ford (although it came in a nissan bag) for about £27. apparently its a slave pipe to realease the pressure from the pedal therefore making the clutch pedal lighter and easier to use.

It was ford who told me this so not sure how true or accurate.

Mine went the same place along chassis, I removed the the length of pipe and plugged the "T" piece and its ok.

Hi yes it looks that way, looks like i shall be pluging up rather than replacing pipe as it looks alot of work to replace when it seems it dose not make mutch differance.

had exactly the same problem with my T2, replaced the master cylinder as you did and did away with the pipe that runs to the rear. Also replaced the flexy hose n metal block thats next to the slave cylinder. After a lot of headaches n the wife saying what the hell have we bought! finally managed to get a pedal.
Not trting to suggest that the same is gonna happen to your motor, but all this hassle and it only lasted a month, then no clutch again! Had to be towed in. Had to go to a clutch and gearbox specialist and have a new clutch in. hope you manage to get it sorted cos i know what you going through.

Hi just to let you know have blanked off damper pipe with ballbearing and blead the system. Everything seems ok for now, clutch seems to be ok will see how it goes.Fingers crossed. Thankyou all for your imput in helping me to sort this out

HI sweety,you screw the damper pipe out of the block whitch contains the mastercylinder pipe and your flexy slave cylinder pipe. Then find a suitable sized ballbearing to sit in the block, then refit damper pipe and tighten up. hepresto a blanked off damper pipe. If i have any more problems i am going to do away with the block altogether and repipe the mastercylinder straight to the slave cylinder as i cannot see a need for the flexy pipe not much movement there.

Thanks for that Mont:thumbs:thumbs Thats how I thought you may have blanked it off but thought i'd ask as it may be an cheap & easy fix for other members who have probs with a leaky damper pipe

oh well, they say you live and learn dont they!
wish ide have known about the ball bearin fix when i did mine, would have saved £40. this club is well educational and money saving.

How did you all blank the damper pipes of cus mine just gone and I allready changed one on our old mav so dont fancy doing another.
