Nitro Car

took my Nitro car out for the second time since buying it. during the recent weeks, I added a new metal gear steering servo, adjusted the toe-in, suspension height and hardness. made some adjustments to the shell for ease of removal/refit and fitted a fail safe.

took it up the fields with my mate and had a good run round. use da full tank pretty quick, and it was fun! managed to roll it a couple of times no damage, drove it into my mates twice, oops, no damage, then rolled it one final time and it stayed on its side! at this point, i must have destroyed the glowplug or soemthing, as it was screwed (proved by using my spare whihc lit up nicely)

terribly good fun!

the plan is to attach a small, digital video camera to one of the cars for some POV action (ooer) and im going to try using my little Luminox thing i got for xmas. It will end up shooting the video on its side, so i will need to convert the video to flip it the right way up. Ideally id use a much small digital camera with decent video function, can see a few on ebay, but from hong kong...!

What car have you got?

I got a HPI savage 4.6, Great fun.

But can be tedious when things break.
Mines not been used for a while, Just been fixing a few bits today ready to start using it again.

ive heard the Savages are great, my mate used to have one.

ive only got a Hong Nor Ultra LX1. its a beginner car, which is fine as I am new to nitro, but its very robust and flexible, and has a .28 engine, so seriously shifts! im not looking forward to any repair jobs, it took me long enough just to change the steering servos!

I have a Tamiya TNX 5.2R, absolutely brilliant fun! 60mph off-road

I like the HPI savage, but i'm conviced they are designed to break! A few of my mates have them and they always manage to break a shaft, wish bone or bend a shocker everytime we take them out. I get very frustrated with that sort of thing, thankfully mine has yet to do anything more than burn out a glow plug. Cant help but think HPI have done it on purpose to keep a good spares trade going

Here it is in "bling" mode... just for fancy tho as it cannot be driven on tarmac, has too much power and traction... thats when I would break something

I have another body or two and some off road tyres for playing :naughty

drooool!! good pioint about HPI though, ive read similar things. Tamiya have been in the market a heck of a long time, so i suppose you can expect a high level of good design and strong parts!

i hope my little Hing Nor lasts, ill post pics soon, its pretty robust, or at least it looks like it is. as parts break, i will simply replace them with higher quality ones.

Ive got it all adjusted but i probably need to lower it a bit as i was flipping it over too much yesterday, perhaps suspension is too high

aye the savages do tend to break a bit but I push mine hard with big jumps etc.

The chassis angle on the center dogbones is too steep which causes them to break, Ive been tempted to try a custom chassis.

If I was to get another RC car it wouldn't be a savage.

My mate has an uprated and modified savage which is pretty damn awesome to be honest, and he has a lot more experience than me so can make it do some pretty impressive stuff i'd never dare try.
I like mine because its more designed as a racer than stunt motor, the savage just cannot stay with it off road due to its much lower centre of gravity, mine slides through corners the savage tends to flip

You wouldnt believe what I paid for it... it was second hand but only run 3 times then he couldnt get it to start. No one would buy it so he sold it me with 3 bodies, 2 sets of wheels and a fully computerised £250 hand set for £200!!!
And the problem... gooey fuel in the carb and fuel line :augie :lol

bargain mate!! mine had a similar issue (we think) as at first we couldnt start it, like you, was a mucky fuel line with air in it too, cleared it all out and bang, started first time!
