Next was the rust proofing wit dinitrol, which is excellent and not smelly and messy like waxoyl.

The springs and shocks will be replaced so they are not painted all over, same with steering damper etc etc.

Cut some chequer plate to replace the tatty door cards, also got some window security mesh of ebay for £30 second hand. here they are fitted.

Want to make up a draw system for in the back at some point but also needed a cargo barrier. I had an old cage and floor panel in the garage so thought I could make it fit as a barrier with a bit of cutting and welding..
aAs it was a straight cage
Aluminium remodelled to fit patrol floor, along with marine ply sheet on top which will be removed when draws made up. ally floor provides base for draws.

first part of barrier going in, making it modular so it can easily be removed for larger stuff etc.
As it was previously a straight cage I had to cut and re weld for the angle of the back seats to get as much space as possible in the back. I did tip the back seats back so passengers still could recline a bit.

20197039903_a58d7048c9_z.jpg

All done,

20808574372_a18d988ab7_z.jpg

Goes in and out quite easily and can be removed in a few mins which is exactly what I wanted...

Considering this was all scrap on Friday and is now something I'm really happy with the finished article. I will be adding a basket for smaller items at the top to optimise the roof space, possibly 150mm deep.

couple more of the cargo barrier

will all be fitted on the rear of the roof rack, ive ordered a good quality long one for the front but hasn't arrived yet...

got some new seat covers too, good quality off the bay of E, under £25 delivered. Thick durable and washable..

Good work there, should be a lot stronger when you have finished. That front end was more rotten than an old 1970's LR S2a I used to own :lol

Really great project pics, of a super machine (I am in lust with Trol Y61`s).......:thumb2

Very nice repairs mate.I had the same issue on the front. I should have taken my Patrol to you 😃 great job! Will be doing checker plate on mine as well.

Really like the metal work in the back...

... how long have you been transporting lions? !!!

Hehehehe...so I can pack the camping gear in nice and high without scratching the tint off the windows...

Subscribed and super jealous with so many questions!!!!!!

Firstly, the repair you did to the front cross-member, will that still allow you to do a body lift later on down the line should you wish to or will you have to make more modifications to it?

The foil idea around the brake lines, exhaust etc is genius and way better than news paper and masking tape that I was going to use, I'll be glad when I get some time to do mine as I've been harping on about it and have had all the equipment and the 5l of Waxoyl since the May laning weekend :doh

The window cages are awesome and I've been after something like that for the rear window of my Terrano for ages, since I've owned my first one, I have only seen one other Terrano with a rear window cage and that was a Red Commercial that I saw parked up in Peel in the Isle of Man that belonged to the Manx Electricity Board, reflecting on it now, I wish I'd have broken into it and stole it :lol , if you ever had the inclination to make any more that might fit a Terrano back window I'd pay you good money :D

Lastly, and I fear Rob may be angry with me for saying this :hide: but this is my favourite Patrol build ever!!!! Please keep up the love care and quality you've put into this already, thank god this Trol found you :thumb2

Thanks for that.. It all takes time mate and eventually it all comes together, I am lucky in the fact I only live 1.5 miles away from work so I don't have to rush to get it back on the road for Monday, if I get a problem I go on my push bike.
The x member repair still allows a body lift as the repair I did still uses all original mounts etc.

I am watching "Skiingluc" patrol build with interest as he is doing an awesome job of the underside of his patrol which is where I will be starting once I have my lights and switches installed. Trouble is the rangie has needed some repairs from off-roading.

Screw the Rangie!!!!! I've literally just come out of that thread and that's another one I'm very very jealous of, I think I need me one :naughty

The blue and orange is a mental combo and looks insane and the snorkel just looks immense on the Y61

that's the drawer and box started, box will be covered in marine carpet... with the exception of the runners, handles and locks its all made from scrap out of the bins at work so cheap cheap to make up so happy as with that.
