Nissan Note problem

A friend has a 2006Note 1.5 diesel reg# HN06 KXP wont run
Symptoms
Starts then stops
Prime pump will not get hard no matter how many times it is squeezed
There looks like there is a pre injector pump, this makes noises as if it is running
2 gallons of diesel added to tank in case it was low on fuel
Was running well then just refuses to run
Anyone know where to look?:bow:bow

That’s the Reno engine and I remember the Scenics having similar issues. Check out the Reno forum, think it’s linked to Reno UK so no longer independent but when I was. Member it was full of advice.

Sounds like a fuel pump issue to me.

Yep 1.5 dci k9k renault engine. Sounds like the high pressure fuel pump is breaking up internally common on these. I would suggest taking a fuel sample from the fuel rail to check for any swarf from the pump. If there is any it may possibly need a new pump and also injectors as the filings will have damaged those as well oh and dont forget the tank and lines will need flushing and cleaning before any new parts are fitted otherwise its game over again.

It’s Reno sadly. It’s a lovely engine when running, powerful and economical but boy when it goes wrong it really goes wrong. When I owned the Scenic I used to look on eBay and Auto Trader, at that point the amount of them that were being broken for spares as very young vehicles and young I mean four or five years old was huge.
It had an electric parking brake which was great but sadly was terrible when it had a fault. If the car battery became weak not duff but just not as good as when new it used to throw up a parking brake error on the dashboard. When the brake actually went faulty it needed a complete unit which had to be programmed up by Reno and came to a grand total of just shy of £2,000. Even if you could find a second hand unit there was no point fitting it because once programmed to an ecu it couldn’t then be programmed to another. I believe people have got around this now but some people actually got a handbrake lever and cables from an older model and converted it to manual.
