area reps

just wondered what is involved in being an area rep ?

We'll need to divide the country up in to 5 or six area's. Each rep will basically handle any rights of way enquiries from other members for that area, so for instance you could ask me about a lane in yorkshire, if I don't know it personally, I (as rep) would go onto wayfinder and find out about it and if that desn't provide enough info I could ask the local GLASS rep or put a post on the GLASS forum. TBH I don't see there being that much to do its just that if some people get the use of the free accounts then the rest of the members should at least be able to benefit from them.

Well if it helps HB put me down for the Northumberland area  If there are any other members on the west side of Northumberland who would like to help then that would be fantasic as it's quiet a big area going from the Scottish boarders down to Newcastle on the east side (i'm just off the Newcastle/Northumberland boarder) & down to the lakes on the west side

I need to get a map infront of me but probably need it to be Cmbria and Northumbria if we're only going to have 5 or 6 (due to only 4 free accounts). I'll do Yorkshire (now thats a big county) as I'm GLASS rep for part of it anyway and probably some more, we'll have to see how it pans out, t th ened of the day anyone can help over anywhere.

area reps

i am starting to build up a knowledge of the r.o.w system in derbyshire through personal experience and the green wayfinder site.if no one else would take on the responsability for the derbyshire area i would give it a go.

Hi yes was thinking as we have 4 GLASS Forum/Wayfinder accounts to go at that they should go to the area reps, I can do an area too and hopefully our other personal GLASS member might be willing to take on an area, that will mean we can split the country into 6 - you volunteering?

Who me? OK, I'll do what I can. Dunno which area - how about Scotland. I was the GLASS Scotland Rep for a short while - until I conned a genuine Scot into taking it on.

FYI, Trailwise the replacement for the "official" GLASS/TRF instance of Wayfinder is now close to launch (it's been close for a while due to lack of volunteers for testing). Following a suggestion from a member of the development team  , the GLASS Executive have decided to offer temporary free membership of the Wayfinderproject (grey official GLASS/TRF Wayfinder) and Trailwise until 3 months after the launch of Trailwise to end users. After Trailwise has been running for 3 months, the temporary free memberships will lapse unless the user qualifies for continued Trailwise membership by virtue of being a GLASS or TRF member or a member of a GLASS Affiliate.

This means that the GLASS Wayfinder is now free to use for as long as it continues to exist - so there is effectively no limitation on the number of Wayfinder accounts that will be available to members of GLASS Affiliates, in the short term. (Some of us are hoping that will become the long term position too).

If anyone who does not currently qualify for free membership wishes to take up the temporary free membership, they should email [email protected] and provide the following details .......

* name (first name, last name)
* preferred user ID (plus one alternative in case that is taken)
* postcode
* the email to which you wish the notification to be sent.
* stating that you agree to the GLASS code of conduct found at http://tinyurl.com/3sjhfm
* giving an undertaking that information on either database will be used only for personal use.

The account that is created will remain valid until three months after the launch of TrailWise unless they continue to qualify by other means.

Cheers
Andrew

Yes, I know you have. I saw your Email. I think you've been setup now by Gill Nelson, who looks after Wayfinder accounts - so you should have had an Email from Wayfinder with a temporary password.

FWIW, this "temporary" free access to Wayfinder and later to Trailwise is known as the "Early Adopter" scheme. Apparently only two people have been setup on Wayfinder under this scheme so far - and you are one of those.

Just one point - when you login, remember that both user names and passwords are case sensitive - so you have to type it in precisely right or the login will fail. (Just like on the green version).

Have fun

Yep, seen that. You should have a Wayfinder account by now. I was talking to Gill Nelson on MSN whilst she was setting your account up.

Have fun
