The brake warning light (!)
Its on constantly, it started flickering a while back now it stays on. The handbrake seems fine, the brake fluid is at the right level, is it indicating brake pads?

I'm not aware of any sensors on the brakes.

It could be low vacuum, one guy had this problem before and we isolated it to a vacuum line had a few weld spatters on it following some welding that perforated the pipe.

Or it could be the Vacuum pump, or a leak on the servo.
Most likely a pipe is loose or split or holed.
Of course it could be a faulty vacuum switch.

Ok, bummer, MOT is due. So how can I diagnose this then, what should I be looking for and where?

How do I check the ABS sensor and the brake lines or is it best I just take it to the garage and say stick it through its MOT then fix anything wrong with it and re test it if needed.

Just as a side note, the brakes don't feel any different to when I first got it.

There should be a seperate warning light for the ABS....I'd be checking the pads personally - even some older motors had embedded wires to create a short when the pads got too low....I'm not aware the T2 had it but these nutty old Mistrals....?

Ok, I'll get that done just to be sure. I know I can do that fine.

BRAKE WARNING LIGHT:
There are ONLY 2 possible causes the fluid level switch & the handbrake switch.
ABS WARNING LIGHT:
causes many, but, frequently a broken wire or bad connection to one of the wheel sensors.

I did think that. In the manual it says fluid level or fan belt may cause the light to come on

Fan belt as that drives the vacuum pump on the back of the alternator.
So I still think it could be low vacuum.:nenau

on my Mazda MX6, if the brake fluid is just a tiny bit low, the light comes on, so, re check the level and top up a touch, see if that helps.
