Just picked up a new Terrano today. Its a 2001 2.7 TDi automatic. I got it cheap because it has a fault. The management light is on. It does drive pretty good but not quite right.
I checked the codes and this is what it came up with.

code 11 Fuel injection pump position sensor
code 18 Fuel quantity adjuster/position sensor
code 43 Accelerator pedal position (APP) switch/sensor
code 47 Crankshaft position sensor incorrect signal.

it still drives quite smooth and has plenty of power but sometimes it looses all power and stutters like its misfiring.

just wondering if anybody else has had any of these problems and what you did to sort it.
cheers :thumb2

Start with the simple things first.
The pedal sensor sometimes gets clogged up with fluff and dust so a quick clean May sort that.check the wiring into the plugs on top of the engine.
Crank sensor might be on its way out but be careful of the cheapo ones.
The ones I would be a bit worried about is the injector pump.
That's what led to the death of my old red beast.
Fingers crossed it's just a bit of dodgey wiring or a dirty connector.

Cheers elty. I still have my 1998 tdi and was thinking of using bits of that but the pedal has a different switch. Do you know if the fuel pump are the same cos I could just swap them.

That was gonna be my next question.have you still got the old one.
Not sure tbh about the injector pump.
I have the zexel pump and hitachi maf on my 2000 auto which was the same as my old 1996 terrano so it's quite possible.
When mine started acting up it would misfire and stall.i used to have to turn it off and leave it for 10 mins or so then if would fire up and run fine for a couple of weeks or so before it did it again.
I think you can see the plate on the injector pump with the make and part number on it through the o/s wheel arch.
Not sure if the pump has to coded to the ecu when they are changed:nenau

if both cars have Hitachi maf then u can swap as they don't need to be coded to ecu but if new 1 is bosch and old 1 is hitachi then no they have diff ecus and plugs:thumbs

Right im going for the easy option first and going to replace the accelerator pedal.
so now my question is.... The pedal i have, has a little micro switch at the top of the pedal and has two plugs to the electrics but my 98 only has one. is it because its an auto or did something change during the facelift.

All TDi variants will have an "idle" or accelerator at rest switch, the auto also has a WOT switch to ask the transmission to change down a cog or two...
