i would say its the diesel return pipes off the injectors tiny little pipes had to replace them on my dads terrano they leak a lot of fuel!! if the leak seems to be from the top of the engine from the injector area that might be the problem
take the intercooler off then starter up to pin point the leak, learn from my mistake replace them all i didn't even learn second time so had to do it 3 times:augie

I wonder if tank was proper empty, Leak off pipes will waste loads of fuel while running won't they?, Annette?

They will chuck loads out at idle and not so much when driving at speed, trust me from experience.

From the look of the pics it certainly looks like the leak off's to me, pop the intercooler off and inspect them. If you whip one off that's no good and take it to any local car shop they will have it on a reel and will sell it you at whatever length you like. As for the spring clips you will have, I wouldn't bother re-using them, order these, I've been using them and they are fantastic.

Depending on the outside diameter of the pipe you get will depend on what size clamps, seem to remember the leak off pipe I got last time had a 7mm OD but check first!!! You want a tight fit or you'll be back to square one again.

Stick with it Annette, that's a great looking truck you have there, once you've got these few issues out the way you'll be good for a while

I would check the injector leak off pipes as said, probably need changing. The fuel lines to the tank may be changing but you will only know if you go under the vehicle. Common area for them to fail is under the drivers side rear arch area along the chassis rail.

There was quarter of a tank in and now it's on empty.he's looking at the injector pipes as well and thinks it needs a new turbo :doh

The pipe that goes into the Intercooler as got a bit of oil coming out of it above the jubilee clip I'll take a picture later.how much would it get for it as it stands?nice little project for somebody :lol:lol:lol

They all leak into the cooler. Doesn't mean you need a new turbo. Most people fit a catch tank to collect the oil before it gets to the cooler.
You could do with finding a fellow terrano owner nearby to help out. General mechanics are ok but not as good as someone who knows terranos.
Honestly you will be fine as soon as you get these little niggles sorted. Believe me we've all had to do them. :thumb2

Hi

I see from your other threads you have the original spring type clips on your intercooler pipes, on the left hand side of the engine at least judging by your photo. These do seem to let a little oil though, mine has the same and there is a small amount of oil wetness around them. Proper jubilee clips do a much better job of keeping thing tight. Sure others on here have changed them over.

Hi its the pipe on the other side of the Intercooler where it's leaking out of the top and they have jubilee clips on:thumbs

I don't claim to be a Terrano guru, that's Ricks job (banshee is gaining tho :D), but thanks to this forum and lots of hands on experience I know the vehicles well, I live in west/north Yorkshire and I would be more than happy to take a look and offer an opinion/advice.

I am free most of the weekend and I have a 7 year old that can fit in even the tightest spots :thumbs

Cheers mechanic is looking at it tomorrow morning see what he says .I'm at work so will wait for John to let me know what he says in morning then will let you know. Would be good if a terrano owner could take a look over it :thumbs

If the jubilee clips are over tightened this can also cause it to blow oil as it deforms the rubber pipes.
They need to be tight enough to secure the hose but not crush and cut into it.

20170218_144827-756x1008.jpg pipe had split near fuel injection :nenau:nena but he's put new pipes on them all :thumbs
