New MOT test for diesel cars

I was in that garage today, and there is a poster saying that all diesels have a new MOT test, where they rev the car up to the limiter 3 times.

Whats this all about? Anyone know more about this?:nenau

Been in place for sometime now 2- 3 years. I think its to clean the SH!T out before testing it. get it up to temp etc..

When i took my van they did it a blew 3 holes in the rad. Of course they take no responsibility for it.(

thats the problem with these things if they rev it up and the valves shoot out ad start dancing on the bonnet they can not be held for it and it's up to the owner of the vehicle to sort out. some of them even make you sign a waver. i don't see the point in revving it up even once.

waivers are usually for cam belts snapping.

it's for the diesel smoke test or immisions if you like been in place a few years now we've not really had any go bang just depends on how hard they rev it luckily my mate who does mine is alright lucky me just make shaw you have enough engine oil in it and you should be fine as extreme says we're ok no cam belt

Speaking of MOT's , mines imminent. First one with this car and first one with a diesel.

Front Anti roll Bar links seem to be a regular MOT fail, gonna have to do mine again this year.

PS if you really want you can watch your engine go bang, every MOT station has to have a viewing area (well used to have to) LOL

Mines on Thursday but he passes my Trooper so no way can my T2 fail LOL
