Definately got the switches in, one for each 'pair' of lights. my middle pair will not be road legal with 100w lamps in

should have a switch in there as well.

some MOT places will fail it on that... some not all

ehhh?????????

who told you that ??????????????

Its either a fail or not for them all.

Im not aware of any rules saying there has to be a facility to isolate them (so long as they are road legal) . There are rules which say they should be operated, ie on and off ,with the mainbeam for use on the road. Off road is a different ball game.

Ive had loads of aux lamps on cars over the years. With only one exception, none had isolator switches and none were failed at mot.

It is a good idea to be able to isolate them if you have multiple lights because when its snowing or misty you can hit a situation where full beam is good but full plus spots is ott.

agree if they are driving/spot lights then must kill with main beam to dip beam.

can see switch if over regulation 55w.

alternatively if they are manually controlled so fall more under fog light regs
then need a tell tale, just like work lights.

funny though with fog reg as my t2 had factory front fogs but no tell tale light
until twisted switch further and rear fog came on and its tell tale.

additionally pure front fogs, should need side light circuit on, as they are used
in stead of dipped headlights, obviously any twonk in a saxo is exempt from
this legislation.

front fogs have certain rules max height 500mm i think as have to be so close
to edge of car, spots have no restrictions, so even roof lights providing wired
to main beam are ok as long as dont use to distract others.

just beware that when go a 200w + of main beam to dipped it'll feel like
on side lights!

With everything on there are 2 x 100w and 4 x 55w lights, I can see where I am going. Some plonker came up behind me on the M40 (BMW) flashing me to move over, because he was going faster than me. I was following a queue of traffic so wasn't going any faster. I pulled over and let him pass, then I dropped back out behind him and gave him a flash, just to let him know I was there....:sly
