Hi Guys,

Following the recent replacement of my clutch, which some of you may have read about, I was still experiencing a problem with the clutch pedal not returning to its stop.

Even though the clutch now appears to be working correctly, which was the result of a defective flexi pipe, the problem with the pedal was annoying and distracting whilst driving.

This afternoon I fitted a new (Pagid) master cylinder (Euro Car Parts) and a new nylon bush that the Clevis pin goes thorough on the linkage between the pedal and master cylinder. The clutch pedal bush was bought from an eBay seller called Saabbits.

This was a tricky job, and getting to the clevis pin and top securing bolt on the pedal from within the car required some Yoga type moves, but I am pleased to say that after fitting the new parts the pedal feels a lot more responsive and returns to the stop every time.

I thought I would post this, although I am sure it has been covered before, because prior to doing the work I could not find any images on the internet of the pedal, or where the new bush was to be fitted. Therefore I hope the following is helpful...

Annotated image below of removed pedal to show location of nylon bush

Here is an image of the new nylon bush and the removed part. I have to say that the old bush appears to be of much higher quality than the new one, but had some wear and was slightly oval in shape as a result.

Finally an image of the new master cylinder during fitting. I found that I only had to bleed the master cylinder after fitting.

As always the long term result is always the real test, but I hope this has solved it.

Good work. Hopefully all your terrano troubles are over. There'll still be a list of jobs but to be done as and when :thumbs

Thanks. Let's hope so, although it seems to have become the norm lately to have my head under the bonnet, or the car on ramps in the evenings and weekends.

A break would be nice now :)

someone on here made some brass bushes to replace the nylon ones i replaced both of mine with the ones i bought of him and never had a problem and being brass i bit of grease works wonders i think it was big bunny but not 100% sure:thumb2

It was the bushes either side of that large spring that caused my pedal not to return properly, I made a couple out of nylon wall plugs.

I think I had seen that on the site before, but I couldn't find the member/seller. I would still get one if they were available though as it wouldn't take much room up in the glove box.

I looked at those when I had the pedal removed from the car. They looked OK, so I didn't tamper with them and that spring looked like it might be difficult to refit. Ingenious solution using wall plugs though. They're pretty tough after all!

Yeah think Craig was doing some and also some available on saabbitsat some point but no longer available :nenau

Not to worry :thumb2 . The bush I bought from Saabbits was only a couple of quid, and despite it being quite an awkward place to get to, it's only a R Pin that needs to be removed.

Do you have a link for where you bought the nylon bushes ?
