Hi Guys,
Following the recent replacement of my clutch, which some of you may have read about, I was still experiencing a problem with the clutch pedal not returning to its stop.
Even though the clutch now appears to be working correctly, which was the result of a defective flexi pipe, the problem with the pedal was annoying and distracting whilst driving.
This afternoon I fitted a new (Pagid) master cylinder (Euro Car Parts) and a new nylon bush that the Clevis pin goes thorough on the linkage between the pedal and master cylinder. The clutch pedal bush was bought from an eBay seller called Saabbits.
This was a tricky job, and getting to the clevis pin and top securing bolt on the pedal from within the car required some Yoga type moves, but I am pleased to say that after fitting the new parts the pedal feels a lot more responsive and returns to the stop every time.
I thought I would post this, although I am sure it has been covered before, because prior to doing the work I could not find any images on the internet of the pedal, or where the new bush was to be fitted. Therefore I hope the following is helpful...
Annotated image below of removed pedal to show location of nylon bush
Here is an image of the new nylon bush and the removed part. I have to say that the old bush appears to be of much higher quality than the new one, but had some wear and was slightly oval in shape as a result.
Finally an image of the new master cylinder during fitting. I found that I only had to bleed the master cylinder after fitting.
As always the long term result is always the real test, but I hope this has solved it.
Regards
Alan
