New Clutch Fitted - Help Needed- Please

Hi Folks - I have just fitted a new clutch kit in my 2004 2.7 TDI, i just replaced all ancillaries and put every thing back together only to find out it will not go into gear whilst engine is running em mm when engine is stopped gears are selected with no problems . i have just bled the clutch as well but you guessed it no gears - So help please what could the problem be .

Get someone to press the clutch make sure the slave cylinder is pushing clutch fork .If it is i would say clutch fork isnt fitted properly.Why did you change the clutch in the first place were the symptoms the same as now.I had that on vw once it was the bearings in the gearbox when you pushed the clutch the input shaft on gearbox moved back hence no clutch

Would you say the thrust bearing is not sat on the fork properly, The reason the clutch was changed is that the car is 8 year old and have previously towed a caravan before i owned it , i know theses T2S once you get about 60 thou on the clock you looking to change the clutch depending on what work you are doing of course. the clutch we took out had a thou left on it so winter is coming and i am traveling through France with an estimated miles of 6-10-k so could not risk it.

Sounds likely if the clutch was ok before, you maybe able to see by taking the rubber boot off were the arm goes in did you check the arm is being pushed when you put your foor on the pedal

I think he meant they had reached a decision the clutch was in the wrong way round :doh and time to go to the pub and drown ones sorrows.:banghead

All the work it takes to get at the clutch and to find out I'de put it in the wrong way round ..... that's where I would be now

Sounds like ur clutch flexi is blocked, expecially if the clutch was hitting the floor & refusing 2 go into gear b4, also check slave & master cylinder as well as the dampner that runs to the rear of the vehicle. Dingbro do the flexi if u know some one in trade?

Yes it took us two hours to get the clutch back out and i know it's a lot longer to put together, I have started rebuilding this morning , so the T2 should be back in operation this evening fingers crossed.

An update for you all - OK last Saturday we gat the Clutch back out to find that it was was the wrong way around emm - On Sunday i started the rebuild, We kept working on it until 5.pm by this time i was a bit f**ked, I noticed through out the day the back of my right hand had began to swell up and was getting very sore i had small cut of about 4mm which was done earlier in he morning - well i had latex gloves on to stop the oil getting the cut so shouldn't be a problem. we finished the clutch and ancillaries apart from the inside console which i would finish on Monday.
OK Sunday night my hand had swelled right up and poison had started tracking up my right arm, first thing Monday was admitted to hospital with septicemia, Oh i said i don't need this i am of to France on Wednesday i got to get me T2 finished.
The Hospital said i ain't going any where ? Well i am writing this to you in France and all i am saying is my wife is a nurse and has been administering god only knows.
The swelling on my hand has now come right down but not completely gone may b in a day or to i hope, fingers crossed and then i can get behind the wheel again because i ain't been able to to that. If you cuts on fingers and u use latex gloves be careful as they can cause infections that can be life threatening . Mav4XR Catch u soon

Oooh, septacemia is very dangerouse as your wife will know, I nearly lost my life too that when I trapped my finger in an airgun when I was eight years old, spent four month in the childens hospital in Salford, with operations on my arms and legs to get the poison out. So pleased to hear that modern medicians have saved you from that.
