Can I make a suggestion if you are going to go for the 3litre clutch kit, go for the same brand as Banshee just in case another brand is slightly different and as such may cause a problem. Not saying there would be a problem just belt n braces.

Good point Jim +1

There is one for sale at £140 but the product picture and whole advert is a little shoddy and anyone that calls their eBay shop Rice Rocket would not get £140 out of me

BALLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just checked my eBay purchase history, got my clutch 7th December 2016 and paid £140 for it, just clicked on the product and it says the seller has updated it since I last looked at the item.

I was re-directed to another page and turns out the same seller has hiked the price by £60

Premier factors Aldridge, been there to collect a few brake parts over the last three years, for other vehicles. Genuine business with some helpful guys.

If you are getting a decent clutch, then maybe the 2.7 version would be perfectly ok. So how many miles/years did the last one do?
Also how long do you intend on keeping it? :nenau

Forget that last question, I was never sure how long I would keep my mav, and... 22 years later I still have it. :augie
Not sure I've ever mentioned that lol...:doh

And I would not mind betting Rustic that you are still on the original clutch, Rick

They were the guys that were selling the Bosch LP079 & LP032 Glow Plugs off at £4 a piece too, they were really really helpful over the phone when I rang up about my clutch, they even went to the hassle of checking a 2.7 aganist a 3.0 to make sure there were no more differences other than the diameter.

My car as far as the paperwork tells was on it's original clutch which when it went on 7th December 2016 had done about 156,000 miles there or there about.

I'll let you know in another 156,000 how it's doing although it may have a new engine by then, who knows how long mine will last before something terminally irreparable breaks :( :bow

Cut the rubbish mate, we all know that 3.0 is going in it :naughty

I'd love to if it loved the veg the way the 2.7 does :naughty

By the way Hagar, Photobucket is back up now so you can have a look at my project thread again and you should be able to see the clutch swap pictures :thumb2

Sorry to have been quiet for a while and thank you for you advice.

I have now sorted the clutch. I got what seemed a not too ridiculous price of £480 at a garage.

It turns out to be the return bearing had been replaced before, but put in upsidedown!!

Since I am new to Terrano ownership is the vibration at tickover normal? It seems rather excessive!!

Thanks again for all your help, although I wasn't able to do the work myself, your diagnosis gave me the chance to shop around for prices and saved me a couple of hundred over the garage I would have gone to!!

Fair play mate, glad it's sorted, still pains me to see how much you've paid but as said, you went armed with info and you've saved yourself some money so all's not too bad :thumb2

I would have offered to help if I was closer by you're about 5 hours from me :lol

Regarding the vibration at tickover, what worries you? Is there noise? Too much movement in the whole of the car?

A video may help us to diagnose :thumb2

Its just everything rattles and you can see the steering wheel vibrating. I've had to wedge a bit of card between dash and windscreen to stop it making so much noise!!

It's only at Rickover, not when driving. It's more just a bit annoying, but also just checking in case it is a sign of an underlying problem which may get worse in the future...

You reckon you could get a video up?

Could be an engine mount, could even be the gear box mount, but hard to tell without seeing it first hand.
