Hi all, i have brought a 95 swb mav

had a problem on a friends farm last night where i couldnt get the 4 wheel drive to work, only rwd, so after doing some research i took the auto hubs apart (1 only had a cover on it, nothing inside and the other fell apart) so i went to the scrappy and brought some more. fitted them today and no joy. the front prop spins and the pass side drive shaft spins but not locking in and no drive shaft spinning on the drivers side. apart from that i love the truck, just starting to get a headace and annoyed at the farmer in his disco having to tow me out telling me how great they are !
if anyone can give me some advice it will b much appreciated . Daz

In the download section is a full how to mend hubs

Part of the £10

Belive me well worth it

when u span the drive shaft had u got it in 4 low? if it was in 2wd it will just spin

i had it in 4wd low, rears spin front prop spins. drivers side prop dont but pass does, but pass wheel dont spin.. im learing about these quite quickly but i just want it to work!

sorry im confusing things! what i ment to say was prop to diff spins, just pass drive shaft spins not drivers! (been a long day)!

Passenger side auto hub faulty then, check ALL parts are there, not just the auto hub.

There are brake rings in there too.
All info in download section.

Best regards,
Rustic

thanks for the help guys, i was worrying it was going to be something major. so would the hubs playing up only make only 1 drive shaft spin?

thats good :) looks like im gonna have them both off and sorted in the daylight. thanks for your help

Just look at the n/s one next to the drivers side. You'll soon see the missing part. Probably the snap ring :thumb2

The T2 have a limited slip diff on the back, so basically it will always try to drive both the wheels at the same speed in both 2 and 4 wheel drive.

When you put it in 4 wheel drive there is no centre diff or limited slip on the front diff, so now you will get drive to both rear wheels, and both front wheels as long as they both have grip. But if either front wheel should be able to spin, all the drive goes to the wheel that has the least resistance.

So it sounds like one of the hubs is not locking to the shaft, which means as soon as you get stuck and both the rear wheels can spin, all the drive goes to the bad hub, not putting any drive to the front wheels.

I have not had to do my hubs on the T2, so don't have any first hand experience but I would definitely start by checking out the service manual, in the downloads section, and making sure the hubs are assembled correctly.

cool, all starting to make sence now. is the snap ring fitted within the back bit that comes off with the 6x allen keys or is it behind the sirclip? i took the whole hub off at the scrappy as i wasnt sure what bit i wanted :)

You have reached your free question limit  .
