Hey welcome aboard, it's a common problem. These motors shouldn't be run in 4wd on a hard surface and also lack of use, both reasons for this happening. It happened to mine too.

I've been a member on here from the start and saved more than the membership every year. I've seen similar posts every year when the snow comes. When the 4wd is fixed you'll be hard pressed to find a better machine, then you'll be pulling the Disco's out of trouble:thumbs

yeah i had a 54 plate commercial terrano and i loved it, it was owned by the company i worked for and the only problem i had was it was a dead battery. i went everywhere in that and it was 100% thats y i thought id buy one for a toy

Was it the battery or a battery terminal that was fubard, can give the same symptons.

Thanks for all your help. I stripped cleaned an re-greased them, refittd them , found the last of the remaining snow, here was a bang and it now works I will give it a proper try down the farm tomorrow. I will

When you have paid your £10 you'll start fixing the problems you never knew you had..:lol:lol

Most things on these trucks can be fixed very cheaply, or for free.
I spent £6.50 last year on mine:doh that was one of the more expensive years.

I'll give you a free fix..
When on full lock you may hear a graunching noise.
Cost to repair.... free... put a bit of grease on the steering stops, 2 each side on the front hubs, one at the front... one at the back of the hub...

now watch this space for more...:bow

I haven't mentioned the MAF or the Mini filter issue, or the wet carpet in the passenger footwell, or the wet rear carpet. These are all free fixes too?

So it's ok I won't say how these are fixed...:thumbs

Just to let u know the 4 wheel drive all works now, I've currently got half the dash out, hard wired the cb To the battery, fitted a new aerial on to the roof for the normal stereo as the old one in the wing was knackered and re-doing the wireing for the rear work lights and light bar on the roof as the previous owner had stripped the wire and pushed it in alongside fuses on the fusebox ( no relay fuse ect ect) so hopefully should all b back on the road in a few days

Good to hear you are doing the wiring properly, I have seen some awful bodge jobs in my time, some very scary.
