Not so many MkIVs being broken Al - what exactly is the problem as there might be other solutions....? I mean you might find its the same as the MkIII (most other stuff is), except I know the diff is slightly different - Terranosaurus did tell me what it was off but I forget....:doh

been told its the crown and pinion in the diff??? a mechanic has seen it and he said casue the way its been built its esier to have a complete axle

Swifty recons pull the shafts, prop off diff out within an hour, why another axle? also I have a mav sitting in the breakers I only have to collect it they need a bit of time to dig it out thats all, Rick

think there is a slight diffrent in the axle 4 a maveric and terrano??

There were two types of diff fitted:
H233B
C200
Terrano II uses the H233 rear except for 2002+ ZD30 models which use a C200 rear with 31 splines.

i maechanic went to have a look at one and he said that is a slight diffrent. rayf that getting too tecniacal for me. all i need to know if there is an axle round my area somwhere

Ray/Solarman - I think the MkIII/IV 2.7 uses the C200 diff as well.....you can tell apparently from the number of bolts around the casing...my 02 plate 2.7 has one.

Al its not very likely you're gonna find a complete axle except from a breaker....if someone can sort the diff it might be better and cheaper. Bloody unusual as well for it to let go, but theres always one I guess.

If Ricks oppo can do a refurb for you there are people in south wales who could do a pickup for you....? Worth checking cos I think you might be disappointed. Also, the Maverick and round headlight (MkII) Terrano are mechanically identical....but the square headlight MkIII/IVs replaced both, with some mechanical changes. The rear diff was one and front hubs (which are fixed on yours not auto/freewheeling) was another.
