Hi Paul,

Reckon you'll probably get all the advice you'll need in here

However - the caravan club and the caravan and camping club are worth looking into.

There really are just a few basics about loading the caravan:

(1) keep everything heavy down low

(2) keep the heaviest items (awning, etc) over the axle

(3) preferably, get a stabiliser

(4) watch the "noseweight" - easiest if you follow point (2) -don't want the front too heavy OR too light - a noseweight guage is cheap and check the recommendations for your towcar

(5) do watch your speed

(6) try to give / let there be space between yourself and vehicles in adjacent lanes to cut down on slipstream/wind effects

Enjoy!!

Best thing that I ever did when I first started with a caravan was to join the caravan club and go on one of their manouvering courses.

It's very satisfying when you get on site and reverse your van into place. Then sit back and watch others unhitch and struggle

Find a big quite carpark and practice m8,thats what i did!!

Paul As Cosmic says find a car park to practice your reversing skills and signals between you and wife.
When reversing put hands on bottom of steering wheel, move left back of van goes left.move right van goes right.Get good mirrors.Enjoy. l Dinky
