Need abit of advice..

Had to drag a mates car home for him today, it's a bmw & if you open the rad filler cap you can smell petrol, I think the head gaskets gone, any thoughts of it being anything else?

Hi Timbo, it's a 316i on a P plate, he was driving when the engine locked up, it starts but gets alot of pressure in the rad within min's on tic over with the smell of petrol..

sounds like head gasket or a cracked head, :thumbs

If this is the M40 engine, then yes they are prone to both HGF and cracked heads!

Probably best solution is to source a complete replacement engine, that you have *heard* running..

Part it out. He will recoup most if not all his money selling that parts, then weighing in the body to the scrap man.
