The point which some of you are missing is that my gearing will have been down to at least 2nd I was going that slow...when I was finalizing my maneuver prior to entering the traffic island..I had to touch brakes because of the traffic from my right....this is when it decided it was an ice skater and not a bloody big truck.

I love the Auto especially in Traffic jams...but I do miss a manual box when it comes to this weather and being in the mud....but can't have it both ways ......well some do :augie

can't you just stick it in 4WD low before the descent? On my T2 auto you just switch overdrive off and if you need more braking drop it into 2nd.....easypeasy

yes i can do also can put it into power mode to give more breaking from engine

but proper hill descent off road obviously a manual is better more control

depends if you have ever went off road in a auto i guess you would sort of know where i am coming from

all the time, hence my advice LOL...an auto is no less flexible than a manual except you don't need to fanny about with a clutch....it can do anything a manual can do.....in fact when it comes to, say, rocking to get traction its even better - just waggle the stick back and forth....and I completely deny that hill descent is any easier with a manual....

Extreme has also been using my old auto offroad and is highly impressed with how it performs.

i am talking 45 degree hill

it might be that i just aint used to a 4x4 auto box :nenau

other than that can see y you would want a manual

pic's of play time then cant come out with that and no show em :thumb2

LOL It's the boss' U1700, not mine unfortunately :naughty Been out with it all day doing a 50% reduction on two bloody horrible Lombardy Poplars. Unfortunately, she has to work for a living so doesn't get to play :( You should be able to see pics of it if you google EssexArb :thumbs

why follow a course when you dont need to :lol:lol:lol

Nice! We might struggle to do that with our rear-mounted chipper and a full load of chip though :naughty

well neither manual nor auto are gonna be great on a 45 degree slope....proper hill descent control as fitted to stuff like the later disco is whats needed. but your auto should be able to come down in non-overdrive first gear surely?
