I have a Navara D22 4x4 2001 y reg. I want to lift this up at the front. If anyone out there has lifted theirs, could they share the info as I would like to lift mine by around 2". Is it safe to lift it, as other 4x4's, on the torsion bar adjustment? :?

nn man has lifted his suspension and body i believe and mines wound up all way on front torsions, next will be rear suspension either pro comp (check out downloads supliers list) or old man emu from tbr (check out downloads again!)

Not totally sure what I'm supposed to be looking at in downloads. I am a fabricator by trade so really after making modifying the suspension myself for as cheap as possible. I think the backend should be fairly straight forward. How much lift did winding the t'bars on the front of yours give and has it affected the steering? I did enquire at one of the main uk suppliers of lift kits why they didn't list anything for navara d22's and they said it was something to do with the navaras body design not strong enough for spacing it up unlike most other 4x4's. :?

Thanks for that  . Hearing a lot against LA. How much higher did it raise your truck :?:

GOT ABOUT 1.5" OFF BUMP STOPS WHICH IT WAS SAT ON BEARING IN MIND IVE GOT WINCH BUMPER ON ,MUCH HEAVIER THAN STANDARD ONE!

I'll have a look in the near future and post the results............thanks for the help Jace.

Hiya mate, definately dont go with supercrooks, I made the trip to them from Ireland in November and they raised my T2 with a 3 inch body lift and 3 inch suspension kit, the suspension kit, they decided to only fit some parts and left out others and I ordered a set of 5 new tyres and had to come home with 4, the 5th one is missing and don't know when I will get it. Thats typical of them so please stay away from them if you value your nissan. You could try this site www.purenissan.com thats were my kit came from but they only accept bank transfers. Good luck buddy

There are a few lift kits avalible to the UK, but winding up your torsion bars would do fine, Many D22s are lifted so dont listen to that rubbish. 2" is acheivable but leave some room for down travel. you'll probably need new shocks?

How do you plan to lift the back end? modified shackels?

If I had the choice now I would definatly would not go back to LA super....... (there are a lot of words I use now crooks the nicest of them all)

Mikey had his done by TBR

tbr do rear leaf springs that give 30mm lift over standard, sein as mine flat at minute reckon should get 2-3" lift there lol

Torsion bar for the front and longer shackles for the back. The shocks will probably be too short but the mounts may be engineered a little different to compensate for the final lift. I shall measure up and do the rear shackles first as the torsion bars are the easier part to adjust. I saw CALMINI website do a shackle kit that's quite simple to duplicate, no fancy shouldered bolts here just good old flat bar with new h/t bolts and nyloc nuts. Just need to work out their length to get the lift height right which'll be easy enough. I can then fit those 18" wheels I have hiding in the shed........... then its fab up a roll bar and some 2" side rails and that'll do for the time being. 8) -groovy-

Dont reck a nice D22 with 18" wheels!

Here's my lift with a comparisson!

yeh but they look lovely(bk500's) and were dead cheap off ebay and stand me at less than £300 after new tyres fitted. each to there own  I had 31x10.5 BFG all terrain tyres on a jacked hilux and they are great if you do enough offroading/greenlaning but the ride quality on the road with noise levels aren't what I want with this truck. its not all blinged up like some of the t*rts handbags I've seen round our way though. keep on mudplugging. had a measure up today and the shocks have enough travel for maybe upto 40mm lift on the shackles. tried tweeking my torsion bars and one of the bolts is seized solid so will need gass cutting off and replacing  as usual the easy stuff ends up the most time consuming.......another day perhaps. I shall post piccies and info on what mods I do to the suspension in detail, just as soon as I get the mods done and know they work.
