Hi guys I had a bit of a chat with plod last week and so have been on assorted web sites since!
DID YOU KNOW that it's already 50 mph in a white van on A roads?
Any non car derived van is restricted!
Someone already posted on here somewhere that those twonk Blair and Brown bum chums have already taken away 60 of our "Free Country" liberties!
It is indeed time for revolt(I know I've been revolting for a while now).
Bring back risk, let the kids play conkers ,take the white lines off the roads, and stop paying out )(&*^%£$^&* compensation.:doh

think the vans are 3500 -> 7500kg, the ones you need a C1 licence for. apart from
a few 4.6 ton 416 sprinter types most are 7.5 trucks in this category, mind some
recovery firms run 6ton spec lifts etc. Driven by many under grandfather rights if
passed test before 1/1/97 to various skill levels. these are heavy compared to a car
so perhaps slowing 'em down is a good thing, think they might be speed governed as
well, atleast new ones.

perhaps those kids should remove the white lines, no hi viz jackets either. like we used
play in street...

maybe i'm just too old but I though the rule used to be that (trucks aside) ANY vehicle, passenger-derived or otherwise, without rear windows, was subject to a 50mph maximum speed limit?

and if you are in hgv its 40mph on the very same roads

what does enoy me when i am in my 7.5 tonne Daf with a speed limiter of 54 mph on it is the plonkers in cars that speed up and slow down in the inside lane of a dual carriage way and motorways.
it take a considerable time to get enough speed up at 54mph to over take and when you get commited and then as your level they just go a bit extra so you cannot pass this is what tends to hold up other traffic.

and to the comment earlier in a post about pulling over to let people pass

grrrrrrrrrrr to you lol

lorry and commercial drivers are goverend by tacho hours and working time directives set down by eu couple that with the 60 mph limit on motorways english regs and eu set 54mph then we dont get time to stop for a toilet break let alone letting the car drivers past you cut us up in the meantime

now youve started me off

lol

ooopps

and they were planning to tell us when??:doh

its an opportunity to hand out more fines and increase government revenue to offset the money theyre pouring into the banking sector ...

presume generally vans over 3500kg are on operator discs
so would be your transport manager's responsibility to keep
abreast of such.

NO it is ANY panel van not car derived, not weight based:eek:
So for example a SWB transit can only do 50mph on A roads. FACT
I have the points to prove it!

As far as waiting to be told.................well dont hold your breath.
Plod Brown stealth tax dont you know.:doh

you got the points to prove it...... cos you didnt follow the golden rule

deny deny deny

and demand your day in court......

then do your homework before you go to court...... you dont just give it to them

lou's boyfriend got cought with no insurance no mot no tax

and they still let him drive it home with a producer:p

he strolled into the police station with trade insurance and plates (not his) and got off:eek:

copper once told me always deny and go to court
usually falls on its arse

ooopps

and they were planning to tell us when??:doh

this has been the case for a long time when was the last time you read the highway code??

me in full 1975 when i passed my test

this consideration of reducing seems to be for all classes of vehicle
ill with the wind behind me lol

my honda 125 (very old) will have no probs staying uder the speed even down h

have you got the revised highway code that shows a 2 tonne transit is so.

i'm sticking by vehicles in C1, was in Caravan Club mag as fair few motor
homes over 3500kg. mind that may be that they are not for commercial use.

found this does seem to say car derived, but then many of them are not as
derived as they look.

article here about it:

CDVs so where does a terrano with panelled windows come as gvw>2000kg. presume
a panel van.

what of a transit minibus, tourneo or 9 (incl. driver) seat landy. CC say passenger
vehicle or motor caravan unladen <=3050 yes 3050kg then max 60 single carriageway
dual and m'ways 70 unless locally less applies.

same vehicles over 8 passenger seats and/or over 3050kg 50 on singles and 60 on
duals guessing classing unladen of 3.05 tonne as commercial based.

that thread says CDVs are stated on log books, also mentions vans weights/speeds
set back in 1984 before cdv's came so popular on scene as such. Always thought
was tax classification of PLG/private light goods.

It's all horribly complicated but as I understood it from my last speeding points in my van...traansit swb paneled.
I then changed to a lwb transit minibus, removed some of the seats so it was 8 seater, then registered it as MPV and bingo 60mph again.
The terrano commercial will be "car" derived.
Highway code doesnt make a lot of stuff clear like BLACK speed signs!
They are suggested speed limit and not regulatory. BUT plod can still get the hump........dont start me:cool:

terrano van might be car derived but grosses well over 2000kg dunit.

Well like I said it's all too confusing for a poor crim. like me:augie
You could well be right but why does it all need to be so complex in the first place?
Life, dont talk to me about life!(Marvin)
