lots more untill we are all walking..

or driving off road where there are no cams!

good god, britain is a screwed up country. it's the only country in the world that is entirly run by law:doh

saving fuel i guess, saving lives, never know might just catch on.

whats the rush better late than dead late.

Check out BBC, AOL its all over the place. Nat speed limit reducing to 50mph EVERYWHERE allegedly, supported by those wretched SPECS cameras.

What hacks me off is that they use complete bull to try and convince us its for our own good.

All the real stats are available if you look; for example, the Transport Road Research lab accepts that speed is a contributing factor in less than 7% I think it is of fatal RTAs. Similarly, almost 50% of RTA fatalities are pedestrians. And guess what? More than 70% of them are found to be under the influence of alcohol. And I forget the %age overall of accidents where alcohol/drugs is a cause but its very high.

Reducing the limit to 50 will do virtually nothing for accident fatality rates but WILL cause more frustrated people with busy lives trying to either get to, or do, their day jobs, so more chance of an accident....oh I forgot to mention braking for the speed cameras....

And as for the bleeding heart routine "3000 people a year die on the roads"; well yes they do and its a terrible thing but the stats tell a very different story about the causes.

Its not just about the issue of the speed limit per se; we are currently the most monitored population on the planet, and we just let it happen. :(:(

until we get off our butts and do something about it, remember the petrol blockades, not many people got behind the drivers did they?? how about the poll tax demo,s, as usual we let them get away with it, and we will again, we should be more like the french and do something, but we hav'nt got the balls to stick up for ourselves. my local A road has now got average 50mph speed cameras, thats a laugh i can tell you, came along there yesterday and everyone was doing 40mph. :nenau

How far away from global revolution do you reckon we are? Getting closer to time for the mouse to turn,I think.

its only a consideration and as it happens my lorry is goverened at 54 any way so i am use to it and find i drive around at that speed in the car

its my age lol

it also happened in 1974 when we had a fuel crisis and if i remember not much of a problem there either

mind you nobody could afford a motor that could do 60+mph back then
thought id say it first lol

Point taken Robo, but how many truckers will want to stick to 50? And then theres all the dreaded White Van Men with a fixed number of drops they are obliged to do (or want to do so they can knock off early)....that means more overtaking and more accidents.....

Hopefully it will stay as a study, but you know how these weasel politicians have a way of 'leaking ideas' before the real McCoy comes along.....

dont see why it will be wvm's issue if cant do multi drops. his boss will have to allow more
time or if work is dropping employ more staff. remember its your license the points go on
not the gaffers, they wont give a stuff cos plenty more out there to be employed.

do what you can and can what you cant, individuals will just have to set off earlier though
presume the jams will reduce as more lose their jobs and wont need to commute...

so we all waste even more of our lives in a little tin box? No thanks!

so we all waste even more of our lives in a little tin box? No thanks!

suggest if its that bad dont get in it, anyway journey times could improve. sure trials
of variable limits on nw corner of m25 speeded things up than the stop start that was
there before.

so far 72% of brits say it should not be cut down from 60 to 50.

So not talking motorways, just desrestricted non dual A roads.

Well 50 might be better as if stuck behind a wagon doing 40 not
as frustrating plus if traffic other way slower might have better
chance of getting pas said wagon...or not.

funny int it never see wagons pull over to let convoy past yet
theres an expectance caravans should who can do said 50
anyway.

Hi guys I had a bit of a chat with plod last week and so have been on assorted web sites since!
DID YOU KNOW that it's already 50 mph in a white van on A roads?
Any non car derived van is restricted!
Someone already posted on here somewhere that those twonk Blair and Brown bum chums have already taken away 60 of our "Free Country" liberties!
It is indeed time for revolt(I know I've been revolting for a while now).
Bring back risk, let the kids play conkers ,take the white lines off the roads, and stop paying out )(&*^%£$^&* compensation.:doh
