N/s brake disc rusty on one side

Looking under the terrano today I noticed the brake disc was rusted on the inside there is a smooth bit around the middle about 3 cm width then the centre and outer edge are very badly rusted, then when I looked at pad it has got big steps on it where it has worn away on the rust. I thought the caliper was ceased but it pushed back easy has anyone ever come across this ?:nenau

yep. mine were the same. sorted with new discs and pads. free off the siezed slider pins and got proper stoppers now.

I didn't think my brakes were 100% when I went to stop in traffic and hit the car infront on Monday :naughty so hopefully some new discs and pads will do the trick

milners are cheap. and £45 on ebay for EBC.free delivery.. pads are cheap £16 ish

Would go for ebc discs and pads well worth any extra cost

yep. mine were the same. sorted with new discs and pads. free off the siezed slider pins and got proper stoppers now.

If one side of the disc is rusty, then the two slider pins are siezed.

Easy fix, remove them, clean them with fine emery, clean the holes out, brake cleaner and a cotton bud, and grease with copper slip.
BUT if the pins are pitted then replace them.

doh. my mistake. mintex are £45 delivered which is what I got.. dunno how much EBC are.

I had a nightmare with my pins. thanks for the tip Rustic, I will redo the pins when I get chance and give em a nice treatment at AD Ent Salon

this is common on vehicles that stand a lot, the rust gets hold, on a daily use motor it will happen but far less pronounced, cos the standing only over night does not allow so much rust to develop, Rick
