Other than friction, there is nothing stopping that battery sliding forward, when it does slide forward, the cross bracket will rest against the thin plastic insulation material and cut through it and then short out the battery.
You really need to address this problem ASAP

You only have wing nuts, which will become loose very quickly allowing the battery to slide.:doh
Petrol isn't it... shorted battery = molten metal splashing around looking for a plastic fuel line to melt. :doh
