Just sat here with a beer looking at my truck and I'm thinking this would be pretty simple, no ?

Remove rear windows, rear door, fuel tank, roof bars, bumper and lights, internal side panels etc, and pull light looms back.

Mark out well ( I'm a joiner, this is the easy part ) carefully make that cut across the roof, down rear quarters and along boot floor. Then cut out the pre marked section of about 600mm

Lift the off-cut back up and prop/support into place. Tack weld, measure, grind, adjust, weld up ! Plate window gaps, fab rear bumper. Possibly refit tank or add internal tank/fuel cell

Bit of filler a good sand and then an over spray and some more light sanding/spraying

I think this would be relatively straight forward ?

still be a lwb, with bob tail though unless wanting to take chunk out of frame too, as
well as rear frame.

oh then say good bye to your reg and insurance, as would need full SVA test even
for the rear overhang. Read once that bobs ended up on Q plates.

interesting article about green ovals being bobbed and other stuff

I'll just take it for mot ... It will pass :)

Strong beer is it?:D:D

Is there a problem officer, bought it like this, how am I too know its been modified.

need to find new home for tank, Ryan 96Terrano had a picture of a 5door bobbed,
think from a Polish site.even with rear spare the rear wheels were the most rearward
part of the truck. Was either on here or fb, though I cannot find it now.

Each to own, but think wood look at a swb for more demanding offroad work and
keep lwb as expedition and tug.

Or go ultimate icelandic route and stretch lwb wheelbase to get 38"+ under it which
would decrease overhangs too.

It's just about the next level of mods with your investment; and keeping the same vehicle

If the width doesn't change too much between the bit you're gonna chop out, seems pretty straightforward. You'll probably have lots of little bits that you will have to reinforce with thin plate but that's easy to cut and shape. maybe even get some glass or perspex cut to make shorter side windows. There might even be room for a smaller fabricated tank underneath if you can live with the shorter range. Could add a jerrycan carrier on the back too.

just thinking, what about a swb rear bumper and fuel tank ? Possibly fit ?

Having read this again.I admire your Off the wall Thoughts.

I don't have photoshop, but a very quick and slapdash mess with ms paint got this lol.

Tbf the difference in mm between a swb and lwb r20 is much less than
say a 90 and 110, prompt ryan with figures, so other than shorter overhang
on swb isnt much different.

The bobbed lwb doesnt look that far removed from what could be a 5dr swb,
in same way 3dr rangey, and discovery gained 2 doors on same frame.

All good fun experimentation but we have 5dr for 7seater/5seater and big boot
though I would have a swb as a toy on basis could still drag the tintent
