It's that time again for me.

Everything appears to be working so I'm hoping for a pass.

Airbag light on is still only an advisory - my intermittant ABS light I hope its not on at the time of the test though. Sometimes it's on for days and then off for days or it can go on or off in a single trip ?

I'll let you know how I get on

They very very best of luck!!!!!!

I'm hoping to get mine booked in this week as mine is the 22nd so I'm hoping to get it in and if anything comes back I'll still have time to drive it round legally and get it fixed lol

No longer true, if you get a fail then the Previous MOT is no longer valid.

Plus if the fail is particularly dangerous, then you are knowingly driving a dangerous vehicle, and the points will all add up.:doh

With electronic MOTs, the authorities are aware before you even leave the garage.:eek:

Best regards,

Rustic

According to the MOT testers at work, the new Fail doesn't supercede or invalidate the previous Pass, technically. The wording on the Fail is vague too...

That doesn't mean its okay to drive a Failed vehicle tho - as Rustic said - you're knowingly driving an unroadworthy vehicle. However lots of people do, even if the faulty item is marked Dangerous.
The MOT is the minimum standard required for road safety.

That said, if a newer vehicle fails on ABS light being on, and lets say a 1970 car doesn't have ABS, does that make the newer vehicle less safe than the 1970 one?? I think not....

Good luck and may the ABS gods smile on you.... :)

Car passed the MOT today :clap :clap :clap
THe ABS light was off today :D
The flashing airbag light is now a FAIL for the MOT (unless I have been lied to?)
£35 to connect it to the garages code reader and it's to do with historic error not live ones
As it's been flashing since i bought the car I can't complain. My efforts to reset it using the two suggested methods on the forum did not work for me:(

My other car passed the MOT on Monday with no advisories, so I very pleased with the two results.
I do take time on my cars though for preventative maintenance - so I always go to MOT with a high expectancy.

thats according to mot standards but the police (who will have pulled you over) work on the other premis, ie if its failed it is dangerous to drive regardless of an old valid certificate. after all the mot is only safe/legal on the day of the test. eg a tyre within wear limit at test time will not still be legal a year later. vince
