Dropped the Jeep off this morning for its MoT fingers crossed as usual.
Just hope the ARB bushes are okay as a suspension clonk has developed over the last few weeks.

Can't believe we have had her for three years at the end of the month!

mine went in this morning, failed on both outer CV boots

ive ordered some split ones for now to get it through, then i'll have to have a search on how to replace them properly when i get more time.

ive ordered some split ones for now to get it through, then i'll have to have a search on how to replace them properly when i get more time.

Wheel off, upper ball joint off, x6 12mm bolts on the driveshaft flange holding it to the front diff, remove your hubs whatever they might be, remove the circlip holding the shaft in place in the hub, then contort the shaft and there will be just enough room to get it out.

Once you've got the shaft out, place it in a vice, carefully prize the backing plate off the rear of the driveshaft taking care not to lose the rubber seal, replace it if it's damaged or distorted. Wipe away all the grease from the knuckle that is exposed and remove the circlip and gently knock it from the splinbed shaft using a suitsable drift or blunt object taking care to strike evenly working round and not hitting the needle bearings as they will explode all across your workspace :doh

Once that's off you can pull both boots off and replace them both at the same time as it's false economy to just do the one given the amount of work involved :thumb2

A Pass with 1 advisory !!!

It passed with advisory on one rear ARB clamp bush.
New bush ordered as its an ADCO rear ARB none standard item from USA.

They sorted the heater and central locking etc - broken door wire between door and A pillar.
Grand total including MoT a very reasonable £113.00..............great news!

This week has seen all three contractors visit our fire damaged house to bid on the contract the closing date for bids is the 11th January 2018.

Interestingly the third contractor was able to give me an idea of the timescale involved. All three firms specialise in re-builds after fire and floods.

The upshot being that it ought to be completed around mid June to early July if weather allows the roof re-build to start by Mid February. This assumes a drying out period of no more than 6 weeks.
