Passed MOT today- well pleased.

1 advisory = lower wishbone bush

Any hints and tips please

If it passed then there was little or no play so its probably just to cover themselves where the outer part of the rubber appears to be perished.

don't think you get poly bushes for that one, I did look & came up with nowt :(
got a full poly bush kit for everything else tho :D

However that is probably one of the worst bushes to do in poly as it'll be well hard on the road . If you want offroad improvements then more flex is good and again poly will generally restrict such movement :(
The bush can sometimes be fine but the comp rod can wear through the chassis :eek:

yes i had noticed that several supposed circle holes are now.....erm.....oval :rolleyes: I shall be sorting that also :thumb2

Fair play :rolleyes: They weren't around when I searched for them a few years back. Then again I was happy not to find them when I learned how stiff they make things , oo er missus :eek:
Rose jointed mine instead, less restrictive but picks up road noise really well :eek:

Please do not take the following as a rant at you because it is not.
It is to offer guidance about the way the system works from someone who does it first hand :doh

With regards to advisories, irrespective of the component or system, the MOT computer only allows you a preset comment unless the tester adds an additional piece of text eg borderline, so it potentially could be quite bad.

Take brake pipes for example. Unless the tester fails them for being excessively corroded then the preset text will advise them as being 'slightly' corroded unless an additional comment is added. Tester has covered his arse with selecting the advisory. Whether he cares enough to try to encourage the presenter to rectify the fault sooner rather than later, or is concerned enough by the fact the component may fail soon after the test, would include some of the few influences that would play toward adding an additional comment. I will always enter additional comments when I feel the preset text may prove misleading, but we should be entering purely factual information rather than opinion based. The opinion based decision was the initial pass or fail verdict on that component.

MOT=minimum standard, time of test, what can be seen without removing items and not necessarily giving the presenter the full picture on advisory items.

People that believe a car is 'mint' because it's just passed a test are in some respects either misguided or just ignorant of the facts.

P.S. Testing four wheel drives is probably not most mot testers idea of fun as they present double or triple the complexity of what is tested on a routine daily basis all still to be done within the hour slot. My personal opinion on this is that it increases the likelihood of defects being missed!
