Front Crash Bar? You mean the cross member?

Whats wrong with yours? You knocked it or is it just rotten?

Normally the crash bar is the steel for the bumper but wonder id tester is on about the rad x member

i think you are right, but my other t2 with nearly there cross member passed mot.
as for the nearside steering arm, what is it,looked at downloads and its not mentioned but track rod ends lower arms etc are.
i should have had a look but stayed away.
could have been much worse as only 3 things to do.
some of you might remember that i only got this t2 trade to keep on the road with my caravan.it has only cost me a starter motor and rear ignition switch and i have done a few thou in it.
am i right in thinking someone put posts up about repairing cross member,if so a link would be handy,
thanks.

The steering arm will most likely be the steering idler arm that often go & which the macho off roads bend to bits:lol:lol

Perhaps it would be better to find out exactly which bits have failed, just to be sure. Have to say though the prices you have quoted for another years motoring doesn't seem too bad

Always good to have a relationship with a good garage with an MOT test centre. While you don't want them to be too hard, you do want a thorough job. You and yours in the car depend on them spotting the faults before they become dangerous. :bow

Once you have found a good one, letting them do the repair, or making sure you do it correctly and get it back to them is the best way to go. :thumb2

I have used the same garage for years and they know me and my cars. They let me know way in advance of what is going to need to be done to keep it going and most importantly, safe. :clap

i have used them a few years but this year old school that was there 15 years, gone so the new crew i do not know.
yes i think it must be the idler they are on about,eb or milners i expect.will phone mot up in morning to confirm its idler.
is the x member that holds up the rad in mot as said main bar is behind bumper.
when i felt it befor buying t2 it felt ok.
i will get it to my repairer asap on lift but he does not do mot at his place.
agreed cheep motoring for another year but being as its the second t2 it might be up for sale.

Well infact if you go back for the re test I believe they can only test again on what they failed it on :thumb2

will the front bumper come off in one piece if the 4 main bolts are removed with the inderkaters unplugged.

Yeah, I was amazed how easily the front bumper comes off. Several clips if I remember right, nothing too complicated :thumb2
