Just got back from Morocco following a group of enduro bikes round a route that takes in some Sahara and some Atlas mountains.

Third time I've been and I'm now feeling confident enough to organise a trip myself.

I'm looking for expressions of interest only at this stage for a trip next October. Depending on ferry timings we would be away between 3 and 4 weeks.

The total mileage from my door to my door. North West Wales, is about 4000 miles which is about 1500 down, 1000 in the desert and mountains and about 1500 back.

The off road sections are not extreme, Standard Terrano and up can do it but Xtrails are a bit low. 2" susp lift and/or bigger tyres 31/10/15 type makes it better. some flying stone protection is a good idea.

Accommodation is in hotels and desert camps but the quality can be "interesting". 2 sharing a room keeps the cost down. You need to be ready to rough it a bit.

Total cost at todays prices is sub £3000 including fuel and ferries.

I would be prepard to lead, organise and co-ordinate if people where willing.
I'm not making a profit, every thing passed on at cost and I am paying my own way.

Sounds very interesting and something i love to have ago at. But iv planned to go to the US next year so don't think id be able to raise the cash this time. :doh

PS to my message above.

Price would be for 2 in a vehicle.

definitely interested in this, if I can persuade the other half to come, great, if not will be looking for a co driver, as long as I can bring my tool kit then that is all I need, are any more detatils available that might help me persuade Maggs? Rick

Would love to do this and want to one day. Don't think I will be able to afford it until a few years

id love to go as your co driver , but would have trouble with a manual box /clutch etc ..... also i think it would create a lot of problems with my disability for everyone , and thats not fair ....... cant afford it anyway

So £3k per vehicle with 2 sharing ?

Yes, at today's prices about 3k would more than cover it.
Through Spain, 1 night, it would be cheap and cheerful small hotel. Fuel is currently about £1.12.
Fuel is cheap in Morocco, about 63p Lt. Double room with dinner and breakfast for 2 is about £37 a night.
That covers basics, and makes no allowance for inflation. Biggest costs are the ferries, UK Spain, if you booked now for next Oct, is about £500 rtn and the Maroc ferry is in the region of £180 rtn
If I get some serious interest then I will get detailed prices and put an itinerary together.
The basic idea is that we could meet either at the UK side and travel though Spain as a group or gather at Algeciras to get the Morocco ferry.

Been having a think and I have decided that I am going anyway so this is really an invitation to join me. All the above info still applies.
This is the sort of place we will be staying at although the pictures do make it look a little grander than it is.

The route is a mixture of gravel and rock desert tracks with a few sand tracks/dunes and river washed canyons and the odd salt flat thrown in. Also some tarmac links with fantastic scenery.
PM me if you want to talk and I will provide my phone number.

I would love to come, but 3 young kids says I've got to go all inclusive to bloody Mexico or sommit :/

Hey Peter, we will most likely be over there in September or maybe October too :thumb2

Next year will be our 8th Morocco trip.... if anyone is thinking of going my advice would be to do it sooner rather than later, Morocco is a fast growing country that is changing fast.

i'd love to do this one day but as stinka said young kids means nope, and no pennies to boot :doh
