Ive been running on wvo since August no problems and making my special brew the way panelbeater had shown me. Which is the wvo mixed with a percentage of diesel and petrol.
Got hold of some cheap old svo never used and had read that people just mix 10% petrol and thats it.
Do you guys mix the svo/wvo/petrol prior to putting it in the tank or chuck the fuel in and then oil on top? Wasnt sure wether it mixes correctly in the tank or not.

I used to buy 20l tubs of ktc from costco and pour them straight in, sometimes there would be diesel in the tank sometimes just veg oil, never had an issue but never ran 100% oil in the winter. I believe zippy656 ran 100% oil all the time.

Cool. Been about 80% wvo all winter an she seems fine. Ill just dump it all in the tank and let the rocking mix it. :D

I did not know you add Petrol into the mix !

What does all this do when you have an emissions test at MoT time ?

Our Jeep has to be run on Diesel all the time, petrol in a common rail engine would cause big problems!

I think you can add up to 10% petrol to volume of veg oil in diesels depending on on the manufacturers specifications for the engine. It helps keep the veg oil (or diesel) more fluid. I have read somewhere that 10% petrol equates to about 35% diesel with regards to diluting the veg oil.

Be very careful adding petrol it kills lubrication and never ever feed a common rail anything other than pure derv, normal diesel 2000 psi common rail 20 to 25 thousand psi, Rick

cgi common rail gasoline injection systems

Those pressure are very interesting. Mercedes make a cgi engine it has a two stage compression system of petrol injection. They are more efficient & powerful than the standard petrol injection system.

Imagine the fire risk if a fuel pipe leaks they work at similar pressures to a modern common rail diesel engines!

Interesting, my first thoughts are how on earth do they get that kind of pressure with petrol, ceramic comes to mind but close enough tolerances for petrol at such high pressure beggars belief, Rick

I was a svo user before I lost my way.

Used 100% svo in summer mixed with diesel in winter

Hardcore veg user here, can't be bother to retype it all here but have a look through my project thread for my Commercial.

I've added a few heat exchangers into the mix in essence and replaced my fuel lines for Kunnifer ones, removed the banjo filter from my Bosch pump and still not satisfied. I think now I'm in the new yard I'm going to be on the lookout for a Kenlowe HotStart kit, 2 have come up on her previously but each time I've been SKINT :doh

If mixing with 10% petrol then to compensate for its low calorific value get some 2EHN (2 Ethyl hexyl nitrate) cetane booster. About £35 for 5 litres.

In fact it is well worth adding to any fuel diesel/svo/ago mix at a ratio of 15ml:10 litres. More power all round and really helps with the cold starts on veg.

I know they have as you would expect a low pressure & high pressure pump.

The cgi option in the UK seems to have gone I think.

I used to buy that from Goat Industries sold as "VeggieBoost" but can't get it anymore. I vouch for it, literally like rocket fuel. Where are you getting that from as I'd love to start using it again.

Pretty sure that the fumes almost knocked me out first time I opened a can in the car, I had to vacate, sharpish.

Oh, and your starting issue deffo sounds like your starter motor!!! Easy fix mate :naughty

Banshee, I too used to get the veggi boost from Goat Industries but 2EHN seems far more readily available than it used to be and cheaper. I have the feeling it is a bi-product of some common chemical process. I would Google it but started typing now. Anyway as ever Google is your friend, just type in 2EHN cetane boost. As I said, you can find it for about £35 for 5 litres including delivery.

Hopefully picking up fuel filters today and will start on the starfer. If it ever stops raining!

Found 2EHN on Amazon at a reasonable price
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ultra-Nitrate-HYDRA-Biodiesel-Additive/dp/B07C98RJFV

Will try and find the slightly cheaper source that I used and add it later
At present the above appears to be the cheapest option but feel free to Google away for cheaper. Also note that the above is free delivery with Amazon prime. Remember that you can trial Prime for a month for free and then cancel before the month is out. So obtaining free deliveries for a month. At least it was possible, best check.

i used 2ehn as well still got it here but wont use now on a 3l.

??? Why not???
As a cetane booster it improves the performance of all diesel(and probably petrol) engines including common rail. It is the primary product in every diesel performance booster, such as red X and the like but in an undiluted and hence far cheaper form.

Yep 100% most most of the time,

When starting got sluggish added a little diesel or petrol.

If you can get missfuled mix from your local garage you can use that.

There is a way to work out the mix of petrol to diesel , but I didn't worry, just used it like petrol ,
