hi guys, im getting an intermittant misfire between 2 and 3 k revs, normally in 2nd or 3rd gear, but only happens some of the time (sounds like hitting rev limiter in a petrol, then get cloud of bluey smoke, and she shoots off) any ideas?

I hope it's not worn valve stem seals like my Maverick turned out to be

Hows your engine oil level?

Mine has worn valve stem oil seals.
Smokes on start up and when the engine has been at idle and you put your foot down.
Will get them done one day.

will try to read the codes tomorrow, however i have no eml on, so not sure if i will have any codes

ok, i read the codes and got 55 no faults found! now im even more confused!

what year is yours, I have just been looking at the fault codes on mine, and despite knowing I have put it into limp mode several times, still there was no light or codes, so I don't think the ones around 1999 are as good at recording these events as the later ones.

My guesses for yours are, fuel filter, air getting into the system, or a leak in the intercooler/connecting pipes.

Over the time I have had mine, I have had a few issues regarding these items, and most seem to show up most as the Turbo kicks in at about 1800 to 2200 RPM.

I would start with checking the intercooler pipes and their clamps, as the original Nissan ones are not very good, and loose their compression over the years. Next, the Fuel filter, and change the 2 flexible pipes for clear, to see if there are any air bubbles in the system.

Mine has done the same as Lazy Ferrets too :thumb2

Fuel filter is a good place to start, I couldn't believe it myself but the proof is in the pudding! :lol for the sake of 6/7 quid gotta be worth a go.

Ok so it appears I'm getting air in the fuel line. Any ideas where to start looking?

Joints? Often the fuel pipes rot through above rear axle. Mine has and just waiting to get it booked in and sorted.
