Milners Drop Links (part deux!)

Spanish - sourced drop links now fitted. Top pic shows the incorrect angle of the Milners item, the second pic the correct angle (perpendicular) of the Spanish ones. The other two pics illustrate the difference between the Milners and the Spanish drop links.

And just for Zippy, note the fresh grease on the steering stops!

bought a set ages ago from milners. Never used them as I removed the arb.

Wonder what they are for now. Maybe I can get a refund as they are wrong even though it was like 2 months ago.

Worth a try, I would try to get a refund on mine but as they have been on the car for a month they would probably laugh me out the door!

It might actually be worth a try. A couple of years back they were sending out dodgy quality drop links for Delicas which were splitting and falling apart within months, even weeks in some cases. IIRC, some of the lads made them aware of this, sent them back after being on their trucks for a while and got full refunds and Milners happily acknowledged they were of poor quality.

Do they fit any Terrano/Maverick? I think probably not, the listing in the catalogue of the Spanish supplier I got mine from said "93 on" which suggests to me the whole run up to 2006

Rick could the ARB itself be different sizes? As you've got a selection there, perhaps a tape measure will answer things? :nenau

Got round to making up a gauge today, to measure the ARB arm and both the Mk 1s were the same bar a couple of mm the Mk 2 was about 5 mm different, and then I remembered that I changed it as the original was bent, so checked the bent original Mk 2 one in the barn and same as the Mk 1s, so have not found the reason why my Mk 1 is sitting pissed with the offset drop links, will have to try and take some detailed measurements of the wishbones etc, and also some pics, Rick

That sounds good Rick, this just gets more and more curious! I really would like to get some sort of definitive answer to it.
As lammy says, Milners have been doing this a long time, you would think that they would have been aware of a problem!

well not very conclusive, took a few pictures but to be honest don't think they are worth posting, as the results are too variable, one problem I have is that I have no level ground, and it has become very apparent that the angle of the wishbone has a big bearing on the attitude of the drop links, all the cars were facing the same way with a slope down to the left at varying angles, and while last time I looked the Mk 2 and the Mav had good looking drop link alignment today they are just as bad as my T2, what I can say is that the lower the front sits the worse the drop links get out of line, so it looks to me like the non of set ones are good for standard suspension and the offset ones look good for raised suspension, I will try and experiment with this in a while, Rick

Oh forgot to say, took varying measurements of the wishbones and could find no measurable difference between all three vehicles, Rick

So I used some 1/2" female rose joints . they're stronger than the ordinary piddly little ball joint ones Put some huge fat washers on to try and keep the arm bushes in place :augie
So I'll experiment with this for a while and report back. Rose joints 7 quid each but probably much cheaper on line sonewhere

All I want now is some sort of quick disconnect bolts to undo it again for off roading. Anybody got any ideas ?:nenau

These look to be correct in respect to offset (my main issue with the ones from Milners), and very similar to the ones I got here in Spain, main difference being the Spanish ones cost me 38€!
