MIL Error Codes

Just been looking at the download about reading error codes http://www.nissan4x4ownersclub.com/downloads/workshop/wk29.pdf

It says that once the engine is started if the MIL goes out then no faults have been recorded. My problem is that the MIL light comes on and off intermittently whilst driving and goes into limp mode in the process. So I'm guessing that mine wont be recorded? am I right?

you have codes Jim, I can almost guarentee it. Mine did exactly that, intermittent. Wasnt the "water in fuel filter", was a bunch of codes, but they were easy enough to fix. Dead easy to do, I use a kit I bought for my Mazda, which is basically a paper clip with a bit of red rubber on it!

so yeah, mine did like what you say, but the codes were recorded....

I think its just saying that when the light goes out as normal - on starting - there isn't a code...its just checking the circuit. But if it illuminates while driving there will be a code, even if it goes out again.
