OK help me out here guys :augie How can I STOP getting cb chatter from Canada Iceland and Russia ? I've been on offroad jollies and using a chosen channel with the convoy , like say 39. I keep getting continental types on my CB :doh Makes no odds if I change channels either :nenau Is this due to other people on afterburners ?

Do you mean you are getting bleedover onto other channels? There isnt a right lot you can do about that apart from try a different radio perhaps - what rig are you running? Its quite likely a lot of the chatter you are getting will be down in part to people pushing high power outputs. It also depends on what chanels you are using too - are you on the old UK FM or the CEPT frequencies? Ive stuck with UK FM now as it seems much less crowded, plus I like chatting with truckers on the motorway.

Another option would be to try PMR446 which is fine for short distance work ( couple of miles) but again is very crowded. The Midland G7 includes the 446 frequencies and also the LPD (443) frequencies ( but these are Ham radio repeater frequencies pushing a much bigger power and will be busy anyway).

You did used to be able to buy a throttle (choke) to plug into the RF input wich would filter out all but strong local signals, but given you say that these are bleeding all over your radio its likely that it wouldnt work. You could go totally off the wall and find a 23ch 928MHz set (bomber band) I wonder what uses those frequencies now?

Personally I would try a different rig first and see if the problem goes away, have you someone elses you can borrow?

Well I have this on the roof

and a Midland 98 + in the dash :D
I just press the button and talk :lol

Moonraker modulator and a Midland 98 - that rig should not suffer bleed over (stuff on one channel being heard on another) Its probably a combo of the skip and people using big power outputs.
Not a right lot you can do Im afraid.

Not a lot new to report - Electric aerial now working again.

I have no idea which one the radio is plumbed into mind as I have a roof mounted one (fitted with the aerial off the Micra) and this one - neither one seem to make any difference to the reception which is pretty good across the board. I'll probably find it connected to some sort of rear screen demist aerial like the one in the MPV. Any of the previous owners want to shed any light on the two aerials?

The roof mounted one is what was fitted at the factory & the wing one will have been an after market fit prob due to the factory one not being great but saying that the few times I have put the radio on it's always been ok:augie

I used the electric one until my mechanic nacked it fixing the ABS, if you play with the radio settings you can have it pack the Ariel away when the radio is not being used ie CD or usb

who was the other owner ? and did he sell it to N Spooner? at DHL

Went to Block & Quayle early on and the car park was almost empty, cam out to find this parked next to me making me feel small!

If it had standard wheels like yours has, it would not be any taller.
At least yours didn't leave it's calling card on the car park floor :lol

At least when you are in yours in the middle of winter youll be toasty warm and comfortable:clap

And you will fit into it in comfort and without banging your elbow on the drivers door :thumbs

I was gonna say atleast you'll leave the car park driving it :naughty :jesterbg

Booked for the MOT on the 26th June now.
Im not expecting a pass first time because Im unlikely to get the welding done on the sill before then owing to a few factors (being out of gas for the MIG and working pretty much every hour god sends until MOT day doesnt help matters there).

I'll have a better idea of any other problems once its been in for its test and then I'll have a couple of weeks before the old test runs out to get them sorted (unless the thing is deemed unfit for the roads, which I doubt). Hopefully the MOT man will not be faffed about the crack in the glass (it affects my view of the scuttle panel and the bonnet only!) otherwise it'll be a call to the insurance man and a £60 excess for a new one.

The water ingress in the boot is puzzling me. Sat in the boot with the lad blasting it with water. Cant find a leak. Yet if it rains the damn thing leaks in and pools on the o/s. Anyone know where the sunroof drain tubes go as thats another thought here....

Might be wrong here, but I thought if a vehicle fails an MOT, the remaining MOT is void :nenau
As for the leak, check behind the rear bumper on the off side, below the high level lights, there should be a grommet in a large hole, my one is missing and a few others have found them missing, Alex found this issue.
Or it could be leaking from under the rear door

Gov.uk said:
You can still drive your vehicle if it fails the test and its existing MOT certificate is still valid (ie you got it tested before the expiry date). However, you might be stopped by police and prosecuted if your vehicle is unroadworthy.

So long as the lights and brakes work and nothing is dropping off I should be fine.

It is void as far as my garage told me.:nenau

Re police and road worthy... if it fails an MOT it's because it is unroad worthy.:doh otherwise it would have passed surely...:nenau

The new MOT's are available on the DVLC data immediately, so it will flag up on automatic PNC police cameras...
They have positive evidence that your vehicle, not only has no MOT but that it is un road worthy without having to inspect it any further. :augie

You are allowed to travel... a reasonable distance....to a pre booked MOT appointment with no current MOT:thumb2

Depends what it failed on - borked wiper blade replaced before re-test would hardly render the car likely to kill kittens and Nuns if still driving round on the old certificate.

I'll risk it, unless as I say there is a major defect I havent spotted. Then I'll mothball it until I can break out the MIG in a week or two.
