i've finally read my codes and the only code becoming active causing the stalling and misfiring is number 18

Fuel quantity adjuster/position sensor - malfunction.

any ideas or places to look? worrying like an ECM problem.

thanks in advance

Ray f will probably have the answer to this, but I suspect a sensor on the pump, Rick

It could be a problem with IP pressure regulation.
The ECU tries to move the control sleeve to a known position the feedback sensor says its not arrived....

There is a spring and ball bearing unit in the IP that maintains a constant pressure within the IP, this oil (diesel) pressure is used to move the control sleeve, if the spring becomes weak or the seat is compromised the pressure within the pump can become to low to operate the control sleeve to it's full extent.
There are other possibilities but this is pretty easy to check, have a look at this thread:

is that code the No1 injector? or related? worth checking perhaps...

code says the sensor,

read the thread that was linked, will try and induce some back pressure, see if that helps.

Thanks for all your help.

No1 seems more common. I tried the pressure relief spring thingy and was bitterly disappointed that the 20 quid fix didn't :doh Hey ho :lol

good plan.. just restrict the flow back out of the IP.
And it's free!
