Hi I'm new to this fine forum of yours but I thought if anyone can help it'd be you guys!
I have a 2002 2litre petrol maverick which I love, but I had a problem with not being able to get it in any gear at all & so the AA had to tow me home. Then mysteriously it started working again with only occasional wobbles getting into a gear. Garage said it was most likely the clutch master cylinder and tried to get a replacement part. Ford said not making the part so tried the terrano equivalent - this didnt fit as is quite different and any others that seem to be available online are all wrong.. Mine has no little plastic fluid reservoir thingie on the top and is fed by a tube from the brake fluid. Garage have said drive it til it breaks again and then scrap it but this seems a bit harsh - it is a good runner, quite good fun to drive, handy for the dog & for playing in the mud and snow and I want to keep it!! Any words of wisdom or advice welcome!

im not aware of a 2 litre petrol maverick ..... 2.4 yes ..... as for parts , try milners :thumb2

Hi, I can't offer much advice other than the 2002 Maverick is a Mazda Tribute rather than a Terrano. This may help you to find the right part but I don't really know much more about these models. Someone else may know more? :nenau

2.4 petrol mav

as briggie said try milners, never heard of the clutch being fed from the brakes, maybe they mean the clutch dmaper pipe, if so that can be binned and capped off

solarman 216 ( rick ) is the man to ask for advice on the petrols .... im sure he will be along shortly :thumb2

if its a mazda tribute however ..... that's a totally different truck

welcome to the forum i would firstly try this place

http://www.milneroffroad.com/ford/m...9-maverick-1993-22002-terrano-0/r20p-clutch-0

ring them and have a chat to see if they do the one for your motor it is basically the same as the terrano so i dont see why the terry one wouldnt work

secondly sack the garage they are idiots i suspect you have a rusted clutch damper pipe and or faulty slave cylinder the master cylinder is the last thing to check

all these things are easy fixes

Welcome mate, but not seen any thing like you describe on a T2 can you take a pic in low resolution and via the paper clip thingy post it on here for us to see, Rick

I think XR6R is going down the right path here, sounds like ones of the newer ones that looks american

This isn't a Mav as we know it. It's a Mazda Tribute rebadged. The Terrano version was not made in 2002.

oh is it one of those funny ones iv seen them about not a true terrano/maverick but i still stand by the slave cylinder thing if it has one start with the small simple things before condeming the master cylinder

Hi, if its a slow issue like mine pull up the clutch lever with your foot en monitor the biting point. You might see it sinking away from you as you use it, Could be leaking from a few places. Let us know :thumb2

And if your not conscious about it, give us your reg, we can check :thumb2

Wow! What can I say thanks guys for your speedy and really useful replies
I have looked up the Mazda Tribute and you are right it looks exactly the same and when I googled the part for the Mazda it looks like the one in mine.

Spurred on by the advice to check for a rusty damper pipe or a faulty slave cylinder I am going to take it somewhere else where they can repair it and not tell me to scrap it! I will also try milners for the part.

I am a bit disappointed that having a maverick Mazda type rather than a maverick terrain type takes me away from the nature of this forum though - being for terrano maverick owners and not mazdas!

But even so, being in contact you guys who clearly know your stuff has been £10 very well spent and has given my mav a stay of execution!
I will keep you posted
Cheers Rachel

Firstly Howdy. And secondly i don't think you will be kicked off this forum.
IMHO a tribute to the Terrano from Mazda is praise.

Oh cool - that's good to know!
Thanks for being so welcoming - I have never been on a forum before!:thumb2

i expect if you had a local member here they would offer to fix it for you at a much cheaper rate than a garage if you can souce parts
