Hi I have a Mav 2.4 Petrol and only recently it won't start up at all. This is what I know... It hasn't been progressive just yesterday it won't start and not even clicking from Starter, I've looked under vehicle and noticed there seems to be an earth wire hanging loose from that area. Could this be the problem???? If so what do I need to do. Apologies for sounding like a dingbat!

Is the loose wire a spade connector type or a bolt on type?
If it's a spade type one, have a spy on the starter as it could be the wire to the solenoid:D in which case replug it
Bolt on one could be anywhere really, have a look for any loose/missing bolts.
Good luck:thumbs

hmm..could well be the solenoid plug, but thats an obvious plastic/rubber plug, but i cant think of any other wires long enough that would hang down that area other than the solenoid wire and the main positive starter cable!
all the other earth wires are too short to hang down so low...

Does everything else work, dash lights, heater blower, head lights etc, if so then it is almost certainly the starter solenoid wire, if you remove the OSF wheel and the rubber cover flap it will be much easier to locate the solenoid terminal, but for it to come off it could be a sloppy fit if it is then squeeze it a little with a pair of pliers till it is a good push fit, Rick

It seems like a hoop shape which then goes to a electrical plug like fitting which clips to another section of the electrics against the body of the vehicle but at the moment the hoop shape bit is just hanging loosely.

Yeah all the other electrics works fine with no power loss whatsoever. I'll have a closer inspection today!

just ensure you unplug the battery before you do....:thumb2
