Hi 96terrano

Yes, I did knock them out and the forks are now free, do I have to remove the first two bearings on the end of the shaft and then strip all of the selector gears off to be able to split the two halves of the box .
Or do the 3 carriers rods slide out of the patch plate between the boxes?

I can see that the gear stick yoke is held on by a 10mm bolt but there is no way to access it without splitting the two halves is there?

cheers

yes, you have to remove the first two bearings, their is also a large lock nut that on the end of the main-shaft 'the most complex looking shaft' that needs removed, for the main-shaft to be disassembled, the 2nd layshaft comes apart more easy

Great !

When i strip all the selector gearwheels off, do they all come off individually?, I only ask because I have visions of them falling all over the floor and not being able to refit in the right order.
I've taken a number of photo's but even with those images I am willing to bet I will still struggle to get them all back int he right place ?

Cheers

the main shaft is in a lot of bits, but the 2nd lay-shaft has only about 1 or 2 gears that come of separably, its mostly 1 lump:thumb2

Thanks buddy, I'll just have to label them as I remove them.

Have you any Idea how I set the front torsion bars to the correct setting when I put it all back together or is there a thread you can point me to that explains ?

cheers

Fixed !

Thanks for the help fella's, second hand box is in and seems to run fine.

Only bit of concern I have is that the oil I drained out of the Transfer box was far far thicker than the Dexron 111 that I put back in.

If anyone is looking for a used but good transfer box I have one for sale. When I bought the secondhand gearbox it came complete with the transfer box on it, so my original transfer box is for sale. All it will need is new oil and a new rear oil seal.

Once again thank you, I would have been lost without your help:clap

bit curious why you put dextron 111 in your gearbox , I thought it should be gl4 :nenau

Yes defo GL4 in the box, transfer box has ATF, originally it had GL4 but caused too much drag in cold weather and bought 4 wheel on, cured with ATF, Rick

Ooops, have I done that right ?

I put GL4 in the gearbox and dexron 111 in the Transfer box?

I looked on the comma website and I am sure that is what they said?
