Well over the weekend I have replaced the heater matrix - OMG!!!!!!!! it is a nightmare of nightmares lol.
Spent all yesterday ripping everything out, took photos of everything as I did it for reference.
When I took the old housing out it wouldn't budge - the pipes to the matrix had melted into the bulk head sound proofing so I had to cut it away - then it came out with a yank.
The new matrix was diferent as it came with two square rubber seals and four mini nuts n bolts to fasten the pipes on. I used gasket sealer as well to be safe. Before I put it in I put a hosepipe to it and my thumb over the exit to check for leaks but seemed ok.
Put the housing in but to be honest I had the bulk head bar out and in about 4 times as everytime I checked my pics I seemed to have routed the cables diferently - right pain.
I ran the car upto hot and no leaks - did have one mare though as after I had got most of it back in place I noticed a few drips but been for a run and can't see any so hoping it was a bit left in from original?
I have damaged the bulb in the vent control part as it did work and my airbag light is on - but I don't care at the mo as I am chilled to the bone - finished it via headtorch in the dark?
I didn't find it straightforward as it was a pain but glad I had a go.I have left some paper under the passenger footwell to see if it drips in the night plus I have to fill it with new coolant tomorrow as its been on water mainly due to the amount leaking. It got warm on a few miles run - any my middle vents are blowing hot air for the first time since I have had the motor - happy days.:clap

Well done. Sounds like a horrible job. On the plus side you're now the most experienced matrix re loader so if anyone else wants theirs replaced, you're the man. [emoji106] [emoji39]

Id prefer to put pins in my eyes lol
No in all honesty if anybody close enough to Stoke wanted a hand I'd always try and help.
I wanted to dot it as I have driven all last week with the heater bypassed - seriously cold and they have forecast snow so I wanted to be ready?

Now what if you'd taken the Blue pill? :nenau

Actually quite an appropriate comment really, when you consider how many posts have started...

For my coolant fluid....
Should I choose the Red or the Blue fluid? lol :lol:lol

Well could be Pink or green... :augie

That does sound like an utter ballache matey!!! I'd put some paper in my footwell to see if that's why I have a wet carpet but I know mine is a seal!!!

Nice job.:thumbs

Always a sense of satisfaction when the jobs done. I just wish i could get a bit of that while you are skinning your knuckles, banging your head and trapping your fingers before hand!

Neither of our T2's blows warm air through the central vents. I didn't know they did:nenau

The other vents chuck out plenty of heat so I just close them off...
